Review summary

As the title suggests, this cruise was about the destinations and it did not disappoint.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Walked from the hotel to the Port of Southampton. Boarded early. Total time from hotel to being on board was less than 30 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Pizza and pasta was fantastic! The rest left something to be desired. For the first time, I actually purchased a dining package because MDR food was lacking. I'm glad I did. The three specialty restaurants we went to were fantastic. Never ate in the MDR again after day two. Much better food on land and in specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Activities definitely geared towards the region/stops we were going to. First time I ever saw a fashion show on board, complete with an elevated runway.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Big Band at Sea is the best thing going today. Harkens back to the old days. Only saw one theater show (illuminicity), which was great as well. Wish we could have seen more, but unfortunately, most times reservations at the specialty restaurants interfered with the ability to do so.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service in bars was rather slow at times. There is an emphasis on bartenders worrying more about servicing wait staff than those directly at the bar. At times, simple drinks became cumbersome for the staff. Not putting olives in a martini is a sin

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and very well designed. Kudos to MSC for not cluttering up such a massive ship with unnecessary venues and bars that become unused or seldom used.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
TV hard to figure out. But didn't watch it much anyway.

Ship tip

We were at full capacity, but the ship never felt cramped. Port stops were easy and required very little waiting time to disembark. Public decks make it easy to walk from front to back. The Sky Lounge is a hidden gem. A great go to place for a nightcap.

Ports of call

Rotterdam, Netherlands

4 out of 5
Would have liked to have seen more of it. But had an excursion to Amsterdam.

Southampton (London), England

3 out of 5
Local bars only serve food on weekends. This makes it difficult to try local cuisine. Ended up at a TGI Fridays of all places. Very much an industrial port town.

Hamburg, Germany

4 out of 5
Most shops closed on Sunday. Makes it difficult to shop for authentic souvenirs. Food however was amazing.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

5 out of 5
Loved it!! Want to go back!! Beautiful and picturesque.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Did self assist. Off the ship by 7:30am. At the hotel in London by 9:45am. Gave us the whole day.
