Review summary

We cruise atleast 3 times per year and this was our first time taking MSC. It was the Christmas cruise from hell!! Spent alot of money for our family to go and everything was a disaster! Boarding took 8 hours, food was school cafeteria quality, service was shameful with the staff constantly making you feel they were doing you a favor! Lines at customer service were never-ending and wait time atleast an hour! Entertainment was sub-standard. We were on a Christmas cruise and the decorated trees were a joke….imagine plastic trees, no lights, 2 boxes of cheap balls! Words can’t describe the disappointment of this cruise!

Embarkation

HORRIBLE!! It took us 8 hours to board the ship…5 of which were under the sun! No water, no food, no explanation! Ship did not leave until 930PM!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food in the main dining rooms was no more than mediocre. I was appauled when I saw a Jamaican Pattie as a main course. I ordered it because I was in disbelief….and thats what I got….a stiff Jamaican pattie thrown on a plate. The only night we ate well was in the specialty restaurant. Breakfast was a mission. It was a race to get a table! Same things served every single day for 11 days! It was 🤢 disgusting! Food was so scattered in the buffet it would take us a very long time to search for food. Food would run out and not be replaced! Staff members made travelers feel they were doing us a favor by feeding us! It was just horrible and shameful!! School cafeteria food at best for the entirety of the cruise.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Evening shows were very basic. Music was below sub-standard. A group of people basically took over the discotheque and were streaming music for passengers to dance! We paid extra for the unlimited spa pass, but had to make reservations beforehand making it an inconvenience. We just couldn’t show up! Waste of money!

Entertainment

Horrible.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Everyone on the ship was complaining that the staff was very bitter and not helpful! Our dining room waiters were not very forthcoming and it wasn't until we started tipping them that they became a tad friendlier. Very bitter and uptight…maybe overworked.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
After being on other ships, I didnt like the layout of this ship. Too many passengers and the main lobby too small! So always overcrowded! There was no cleanliness whatsoever! Many many passengers, including four from our group of ten, left the ship with a severe cold which later turned into Covid! Never saw areas being cleaned as is the case on most other cruises we have been on.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Cabin was very dusty upon arrival. It was basic. Bed and pillows were comfortable.

Disembarkation

We were assigned a 2PM disembarkation time! We could not wait to get off that ship so we got up at 5AM, hauled out own luggage and finally made it out by 9AM!
