Review summary

We had a wonderful time, and will definitely be cruising with MSC again. I knew I would enjoy the cruise, but I didn’t realised I would enjoy it that much. Thank you to all of the crew and staff for a magical week. You’ve given me the cruise bug.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
A little lengthy, The terminal at Valencia was a little small for such a large ship and we had to get a bus from the terminal to the ship, which took about 5 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had the bar and meals drinks package. A very good deal as we all like a drink, we certainly got our money’s worth. The food was good, plenty of choice in the buffet. We only ate in the dining room twice as we ate at The buchers cut one night (excellent steaks!!) and on shore a couple of times. But the food in the restaurant was good with a good selection. We also ate in the Sports bar a couple of times and enjoyed the burgers and hot dogs, I would recommended eating in there a few times at lunchtime to avoid the hustle and bustle of the buffet.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pools were very nice, if a little cold, the weather wasn’t great to start with. The indoor pool was warm though. My wife had a Bali massage at the spar on a port day, getting a good discount. She really enjoyed in Rbs the staff were fantastic. There was always something going on on the main pool deck, dance lessons, quizzes, dj etc. On poor weathe days these activities were moved to the Galaxy disco.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We only saw one show “The Mask”. The singing and dancing was very good and we particularly liked the acrobats.

Children's Programs

There were no children with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were fantastic. Very pleasant and helpful, we had a good laugh with some of the bar staff. Over all, we were very happy with all the service staff we met.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
MSC Divina is a beautiful, well appointed ship. The interior design is classy and comfortable. The layout is a little confusing at first as you would expect on such a big ship. But after a day or two we started to get familiar with it. There are plenty of maps on the wall to help and the staff we always happy to help you find your way.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were upgraded from an interior cabin to a balcony. This was fantastic. The cabin had plenty of space to store thing, the bed was probably one of rhe most comfortable I’ve ever slept in and bathroom was clean and spacious, especially with the shower boots that fold inwards to give you mor room when you aren’t using it. The decoration in the cabin was also calm and tasteful.

Ship tip

There are two European and 2 North American plug sockets in the cabin. So if you have a lot of devices to plug in I would recommend you take a power strip. Also, when first arrive on board ask someone at reception when and were the muster drill will be. As new cruisers we didn’t know about it and missed it the first day. Apparently they made announcements, but we were on the pool deck for the sail away party, so didn’t hear anything. I would suggest to MSC that they add this information to the welcom pack you get in your cabin when you arrive.

Ports of call

Valencia, Spain Did not visit port

We embarked hereq

Marseille (Provence), France Did not visit port

The weather was bad and we didn’t fancy the 30 minute bus ride into town.

Genoa, Italy

5 out of 5
The port was nice, we didn’t do any excursions on the trip, but we did get a taxi into to to explore some of the sights. The taxi from the port was €20 and €16 to come back.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy Did not visit port

We decided to have a ship day, this was also the day my wife had her massage.

Palermo, Sicily

5 out of 5
The port is undergoing some construction at the momen, it would appear they are pulling down the old terminal to replace it. There is a temporary terminal for now, which is ok, but I didn’t see any public toilets. The city was walking distance so we explored on foot.

Cagliari, Sardinia

5 out of 5
A nice port with a short ride on a bus between the ship and the terminal. Again the town was walking distance so we could explore on foot.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The disembarkation was well organised and quite quick. Our bags were collected the night before, so we just had to get up, have breakfast and get off. Again we had the 5 minute bus ride to the terminal, but our bags were waiting for us and we walked straight out.
