Review summary

not very happy at all, the staff was not friendly at all some of the staff at the bars were very rude. There were children in the bars after midnight some of the things that I would have thought that was unexceptionable for the children to be doing even though they were on vacation should not have been done there should have been a time and place for children and a little more rules for them and the parents I have children myself and that's not a place for them doing cartwheels and flips in a bar

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Hooper1031, I think it is for the reason "Travel57" says. I finally put it together the 3rd day of the cruise. The service was not bad, but it was not over-the top as what I have been accustomed to from other cruise lines. They cater to a more Eurocentric style and the other cruises are catered to the North American Style Cruiser. I do believe in a few years they will be a fierce competitor. MSC needs to spend more time in the ports. In regards toƒ‚‚ late entertainment it is not much after the big show and everything shuts down at 2:30am (food, casino, etc.) I was a bit shocked to see children in late night bars and lounges, but again this is a European trait. Also, languages other than English are highly prevalent from staff and passengers which can lead to a break downs in communication which‚ also can possibly lead to a good or bad experience for some people. I speak 2 languages and I felt in the minority speaking English.

I think that many American cruisers are expecting MSC to mimic American cruise lines. They don't and therein is the beauty of this line. The passengers will be from many countries. Dress is not always as casual as Carnival or NCL. It is more resort casual. No comedy shows as they wouldn't work for multiple languages. I happen to love this cruise line and have spent more than 60 nights on their ships so far. Each cruise line has a different flavor, so to sprak. Try them all and find the one that makes you feel happy.

travel57 why do I hear so many bad things about MSC

travel57    8 years ago

I was on the Divina for the June 4th sailing. It was my 5th time on this ship and as always it was great. However, there were too many kids running around in the disco at midnight. I found myself just leaving this venue and heading to one without kids like the casino. I enjoyed myself so much I booked another cruise on the Divina st the end of August. Most of the kiddies should be back in school or just about to start. MSC is one of my favorite cruise lines and I have sailed on all of the mainstreams except Disney.

I was just on the Divina and I did not feel that way at all in fact I thought it was better than those other choices

The Divina is a beautiful ship however I felt as though the theme of the cruise was catered more towards people that are European. This is not a bad thing but as an American, I would have to say that I'm accustomed more towards the atmosphere that's on board a Carnival, Royal Caribbean,or Norwegian ship.

squinn2001 why wouldn't you go again?

I went on the Divina in December 2013 for New Years and that is a cruise I would never go on again.
