Review summary

MSC Cruises offers the itinerary that you are after. It is not about the ship- it is about where you will get to go. Keep this in mind and you could have a positive experience

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and effortless- We arrived during the assigned window and waited no more than five minutes

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was uneventful and did not fall in line with other cruises we have taken. It was off and bland, lacked imagination and presentation.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There were plenty of choices offered. The kitty pool is often very slammed with children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was the highlight for us. How are waiters during dinner were outstanding - Levi and Marvin - and their kindness was what made the meal enjoyable

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It was disappointing to say the least. There were stains and rips in the carpet, missing end-caps on handrails, duct tape holding up portions of the handrails on the upper decks. The ship is tired, often smelled antiseptic in nature and was not at all what we expected

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
small and efficient, but appropriate for the price category

Ship tip

Know that the ship is older and smaller

Ports of call

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

3 out of 5
The town exists to support the port, we did the Dunns River Falls experience, but it is a major destination even from other cruise ports so it is quite busy

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
We opted to go scuba diving and needed to schedule this on our own before we depart in Miami. It’s a beautiful island

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We arrived at the Northern Cruise terminal and there is much shopping there. We opted to rent a car and drive the island which was a great way to see the rest of the beauty

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Another port that solely exists because of the cruise lines. The trip to the Mayan ruins was definitely worth it and quite an enjoyable experience. There is a lot to do in the porch area for cruiseship passengers without even needing to leave to go into the town

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Long lines - a constant mass of people shuffling off and through customs
