First Time Cruisers by NancyH91587592

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise and we didn't know what to expect. Our room was great, all of the ships crew was wonderful, the food was very good. I was expecting more outside space and was a little closed in feeling the first couple of days. We did have one problem. There was a film crew filming all week on the ship. This was very intrusive. At one point during a dinner at Chops the film crew (about 10 people) took over the dining room, tuned off the music, turned up the lights, ran cords everywhere, knocked over a bottle of wine. The entire mood of the evening was changed. We were about to leave and then were moved to a different table in the front dining area (we were at the best table in the back) the dinner was delicious, the staff at Chops was more than accomidating, but the evening was ruined. When leaving the resturant, we were told by the film crew to "walk quickly" because they were filming the actors walking out in a minute. Many instances like this took place all week long. If we had known we certainly would have booked a different week. We've saved 10 years for the trip and left our kids for the first time.

Great Cruise by HeidiM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I've been on many cruises but this Mariner is one of my favorite. Captain Johnny is so personable and the entire staff makes it fun and enjoyable. The happy environment really makes it fun. The food is delicious and for a real treat, try Chops Restaurant on the ship! You will never be bored, there is so much to do even if you do not want to see the different ports of call.

Fantastic ship by T3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Had wonderful eastern caribbean cruise on the Mariner with our twin boys age 3. Everything about the ship was fantastic. Port Canaveral was a breeze and embarkation and debarkation especially compared to Miami/ Ft Lauderdale. We have cruised on Sea Princess and RCI Explorer of the Seas in the past and this was the best cruise yet (although we loved the others as well)

Best Family Vacation Ever!! by JimG11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I sailed on the Mariner of the Seas along with my wife, 13 year old daugher, 18 year old son, my sister-in-law, her husband and thier 7 year old son for seven nights. All I can say is "WOW" the ship was beautiful. When I first stepped on I would have never guessed that this was a cruise ship. And to tell you the truth I wasn't that exited about going on a cruise (or the 24 hour drive to get to Florida) but my mind was changed as soon as I saw the beautiful centrum and royal promenade area. Another great thing about the Mariner of the Seas is that its so full of activities and things to do that at no time does anybody say "I'm bored" or " there's nothing fun to do around here", comments I had heard on previous vacations. My daughter went to the kids club called Adventure Ocean and made some new friends their, Adventure ocean has tons of activities scattered throughout the day. As for the nightlife on the boat, their is always something to do, with the 6+ bars, nightclub, casino, royal promenade (on boat mall, I know, cool right?) karokee, and shows, thier is always entertainment well into the morning (2 Am) for the whole family. My wife especially enjoyed the gym, spa, and Solarium, an adults only pool area with 2 hottubs, which is absolutly beautiful when you walk in it looks like a roman temple, with tile floors, and marble colums and statues. My wife and kids also enjoyed the pools. Now the pools have a plus and a downside: the plus, they are all heated, and when the seas are especially rocky they turn into wave pools. They also have a kiddie pool that is about 3 inches deep- however you might want to take your youngones out of the pool during high seas, because they could easily get knocked over. Now enough about the amenities, lets talk about the food. One night my family ate at Chops Grille, and it was the beast steak house I have ever been to, the service was great and the food was even better. However don't feel as if you need to eat out every night. There is also a buffet every night and the wonderful JADE sushi buffet in the Windjammer. Also the service in the Dining room was fabulous. I would call it fenonminal but i have no idea how to spell that. The people we sat with became more than just tablemates, they because cruise friends, and if they didnt live on the other side of the country we probably would have stayed friends. Our two waiters were great as well, the drinks waiter already had our usual drinks waiting when we got to the table. overall I can say without hesitation I am defininatly going on another Royal Caribbean, Mariner of the Seas cruise again, and hopefully for longer because I was seriously considering stowing away for the next cruise- I didn't want to leave!!!

Great cruise1 by BeckyG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We loved the ship. It was beautiful, clean, full of variety, but felt too crowded sometimes-lots of kids. I have never really enjoyed artwork on a ship before, but this ship had really diverse, fun, artwork. The service from the Royal Carribean staff was truly STELLAR!! The food was very good, but as all cruises seem to be these days, shy of being gourmet.

Beautiful, clean ship by AnneB6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is beautiful and clean. The ship is easy to manuever around. My 1 year old son had the best time of everyone. He played in the kids pool and participated in the Fisher Price Program. The staff was very willing to help and professional. The spa was fabulous. My only complaint was the food. It was not bad but not as good as I have had on other cruises (including Royal Carribean) The Windjammer Cafe does not have enough variety day over day. I was just eating salad by the end of the cruise. However, overall, it was a great cruise and I would sail on the Mariner of the Seas again.

"Most relaxing cruise ever!" by NancyI1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship is very impressive with its overall size and immenities. We had been on the Navigator & so this ship seemed familiar to us. Being familiar with the layout, we were able to find our way around much quicker than with other cruises.

Beautiful ship. Easy to get around. Was kept very clean. This was our second cruise on the Mariner and it was just as beautiful and clean as the first trip. The shows were great, and the ice shows fantastic. Our cruise director was very energetic and personable. The layout of the ship made it easy to find your way around. We would cruise on this ship again.

Deja Vu Cruise by MarkA12

Sail date: /
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We love this ship, hence the repeat cruise. However in the spirit of openness and honesty, it was showing its age/use. The ship smelled of "the public" use. Lower staffing was apparent. Staff seemed burned out. Windows, glass, and brass not as "sparkling" as we have observed in the past. Stair carpet showing wear. Anti-virus containment procedures - bleach/disinfectant was choking.

a relaxing cruise by NoahB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Mariner is a great ship, big, clean with great service. The food was good and copious. There was plenty of entertainment, lots of lounges, adequate casino. Great gym, deck facilities. We did Eastern swing and had no tendering!! Only negative for me was I thought the ship was sedate, quiet by 11. And I'm 50, not a spring chicken. might have been the crowd, we sailed on Super Bowl Sunday, so maybe the partiers stayed home

A beautiful Ship by RosieC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

What a great cruise we had. This ship is beautiful and well laid out. The staff went out of their way with their friendliness and efficiency. And talk about and extraordinary ICE SHOW! That is one show you don't want to miss,. The regular shows lacked in a little talent, but the ice show was great. Wish we could have gotten tickets to see it again. There is lots to do on this ship and you still don't feel rushed or pushed to do something. The ship line's private island of Labadee was wonderful. The beach was clean and it was a wonderful way to relax. We had been to their other island, Coco Cay before, but this port was beautiful. Everything from the food to the craftsmen, which lended itself a lot of local color, made it a funfilled, relaxing day. Be sure to see Dragon's Breath if you go to Labedee. It's a beautiful setting for a picture or two.
