Disappointed by Cathy2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

VIP was a joke on this crew. People in the regular walk off got off the ship 45 min before VIPs and noone was really in charge at the areas. Went to one of their events, trivia, really? and the Diamond Plus were drinking free wine while we set there and watched, how special we felt....You used to feel special as a VIP, but not now. Other lines are really beating you guys on this one!! Would love to see prereservations for the ice show before you go, like the Oasis and Allure do for their shows. All the staff from the capton down were superior, we will try this ship again after it has dry docked.

A fantastic cruise!!! by JudithW3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very clean. If felt like a city on the water. Great. This was our first curise and loved it. Everyone friendly and helpful. Only problem was getting on and off with people with their luggage. We were constantly having to be careful on not tripping over them and took up more space. Suggestion, only allow carry ons like the airlines do. Small enough to just carry, not large one being pulled. Could state a specific size. If they want to carry two, okay. Otherwise trip wise great and hope to be able to sail again with Royal Caribbean. Thanks for a great trip.

First Time Cruise by ChrisF3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise. We had an interior state room with a 2 yr old but there was enough room as long as you stayed organized. The food was great. We were told the only dining time was 8:30 when we booked. We tried to switch to earlier but didn't want the hassle. With a 2 yr old, dinning wasn't the best option anyway. There is a buffet and it was great every time. The pools are set up for more mature travellers and there is nothing for kids with regards to pools, but my daughter loved the hot tubs. We never saw much of the entertainemnt as we were in our state room by 8 each night.

My family cruise by ScottS10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

It was immediately obvious that Royal has cut back on staff and services. While our evening dining experience was wonderful, the menu for breakfast and lunch in the dining room were barely ok. The bar staff around the pool were understaffed and it took a while to get drinks when ordered. Our stateroom was well taken care of but we missed the extra touches that made Royal so special. For example, no lotions, no stationary, no chocolates no towel animals every night..

A wonderful and awesome cruise!!!!!! by SharonT2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

We recently sailed on the Mariner of the Seas for the first time, and all I can say is "Wow!". We really like Royal Caribbean's style, service, and innovative ships. The Windjammer buffet really isn't a "buffet" anymore, now it's like a cool marketplace/food court with many more choices, stations you can approach from all sides (so no endless line!). Very wide-open and airy feeling, a huge step up from the typical ship buffet. We loved all the nightlife options. The shows were great. Our stateroom was cozy and had some new features (really liked the new shower 'door" vs the old curtains which always got the floor soaked). Lots of new storage elements have been added, easy to unpack and fell like there was a place for everything. Overall we have to say the ship was really impressive, the staff was wonderful as always, and even if you've sailed on Mariner of the Seas before, she's worth a second look.

Mediocre Cruise by RogerA3

Balconies are not sufficiently private. The partitions are translucent. The balconies are subjected to smoke and noise from other balconies.

Gorgeous Ship by ElizabethM18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Prettiest ship we've been on in 12 cruises. However getting on and off ship made this most unpleasant trip of all. Asked for special assistance for husband over and over and never received it. Not enough personnel or wheelchairs and I asked for this way ahead of time. Stood in line 3 hours on departing (had to get folding chair for husband) and this is ridiculous. Perhaps there are too many people on a ship this large but it seemed staff was not quite as gracious as in past cruises. I did not hear, "it's my pleasure" one time. This is politically incorrect but the Indian staff seemed surly whereas the Phillipino are much happier and more gracious so steer yourselves in that direction. I think the Captain needs to do a better job of training in the manners department for his staff. Don't be misled by being a Crown and Anchor member. It's worthless.

Loved the children's program. My eleven year old absolutely loved Adventure Ocean, the kids program. My fourteen year old son also enjoyed the teen program. He got involved in a lot of the activities. They both had a blast!

RCI.....Mainer Of The Sea by kstellhorn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Because of nora virus on past cruise ship was re cleaned and sanatized causeing delay in boarding, extra cleaning continued the whole cruise with very good updates and reminders. We found the quality of food and selection lower than our past cruise on Carnival, such as cold cuts/cheese were dry from being prepared and left out too soon,, hamburgers and other type of food were pre-cooked and left under heating lamp. Dining room meals.selections were fancy, but some steaks or meat selections were either tough or no taste, desserts were just kind of so-so. Cabin attendent, room service, dining room service was great and very helpful.

Cruise to Cribbean by JohnW31

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Went to a bar at the top of the ship for a drink. We ordered our drinks and sat down to enjoy the view when a waiter came over and asked if we were a member of the diamond club. When we said no he said we would have to leave because the bar was closing for a private function. They should have had a sign disclosing that fact. It was pretty embarrassing to be asked to leave. Also at breakfast one morning the waiter completely forgot one of our orders.

This ship is too big. I have also cruised on the Oasis of the Seas which is too big for me also. When walking down the center of the ships, I thought I was walking in a shopping mall.
