Relaxing trip, loved the ship & staff by VacationReady

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was an anniversary celebration cruise for the 2 of us and we loved being pampered by the staff; we could be busy or just relax; and our cabin was very comfortable and roomy. We'll take this cruise again!

Mariner of the Seas by tgg63

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was ok. The food and nightly menu was not great. The service in dining room and state room attendants was excellent. The service from others on boat....ok, not great. The people on sports deck were not outgoing or easy to deal with. They appeared like they did not want to be there. There is next to nothing to do for teens. had a 17 year old son on board and they had stuff for 18+ and 13 or 14 year olds but nothing for older teens. Would not let him particpate in mini golf tournament with me because he was not 18???? Crazy and the way they told me was rude. Golf simulator that they advertise has been done for 'weeks' I was told. The shows from real entertainers were excellent but their dance and singing show was not good. There was no theme or story it was just a bunch of singing or dancing. No story line or real entertainment. The food in windjammer cafe was fair at best

The cruise it was just ok. The food was almost the same day after day. The drinks form the bar sucked. The only nice thing about the cruise was the room attendant very sweet.

Roatan, Belize by TomCarol

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Interesting to see 3rd world countries on a cruise instead of the typical tourist-packed resorts. Enjoyed the lay out of the Mariner of the Sea. Entertainment was very good. Food and variety was not impressive.

Excellent time!! by Pmcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was beautiful and had a lot of activities. We have 2 days of rain that put a damper on our outside activities but the cruise director made up for it with other activities. The ports were great wish there was more options in Honduras. The tendering in Belize went very smooth. Would definitely go on this cruise again!!

The Mariner of the Seas was a beautiful ship. Out of the 10 cruises we have taken, this was the best! It was spotless! The attendants was great. We loved everything about the ship.

My wife and I along with another couple were on the Mariner from Feb 10-17th. We had a great time sitting beside the pool, eating, eating, eating. Luckily we didn't gain a pound. Great food, good variety and super shows.

cruise was better than expected, particularly the food. We were very disappointed with the room, we payed for an outside cabin & got an inside cabin, cruise was fully booked so no changes could be made. The room was fine it had a window, only problem it overlooked the atrium.

Seven Days of fun on RC by Saleor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very enjoyable cruise for number six on RC. Had Promenade stateroom for second time and the extra size and window bench overlooking the activities was great. Food was superb as usual but we found the Chops restraunt was a good place to be conservative on ordering. Appetizers were huge,a bowl of Forest Mushroom soup must have been 18 ounces. We cancelled the 10 ounce fillets and substituted 7 ounce. The sides were easily enough fro two servings. They allowed us to take the enormous slice of Red Velvet cake to our room! We hurried this because we had our first meeting of Platinum and up guests. Shazam!! Hot and cold horderves, canapes and petit fours in abundance. Shall consider this carefully next cruise. Fine and varied entertainment and the entire crew was enjoyable. Found a liquor buy in Grand Cayman. Just across the street from the wharf is a liquor and Rum Cake shop. The liquor was a little less than the one on the wharf and they gave me a large Rum Cake with purchase of 4 bottles of my favorite rum. Looking to another voyage in April so see you out there

Somewhat Disappointed by leeandsandy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had heard so many great things about RCCL that I was somewhat disappointed in this cruise (our 8th one, but first on RCCL). First of all, when we went to our cabin after our lunch on Sunday, it was already occupied! (No people, but personal belongings scattered around.) Upon going to guest services, no one knew what was going on and we were told to come back after the lifeboat drill. We did, only to be told to come back after dinner and it would be resolved! Our cabin attendant, Helen, was the most helpful. She said the couple in our room was booked for 3 weeks end to end and had another week to go. No one had informed them that they would have to relocate for this cruise! We finally got into our room at 7:30, having missed the evening show and lugging our 2 bags around. That's the last time I'll book a cruise 4 days before sailing! No one even apologized for our inconvenience. (But I'm thankful we were not on Carnival). When we last cruised in Nov. 2009 on Norweigen we had a much better over-all experience. Maybe it's due to the tight ecomony, but RCCL seemed to nickel and dime us to death! Many of the staff were hard to understand, and while the entertainment was good there was not enough of it for 7 days.

Mariner of the Seas by GalvestonCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have shipped with Mariner before and have always been extremely satisfied with our over-all experience. Departing from Galveston is so convenient which makes the trip even more enjoyable. It would be nice if there could be some different ports added to the current program. We have taken both cruises, Jamica and Honduras, but uncertain as to if we would want to see either of the ports again.

Fun on Mariner of the Seas by cruisemomma

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had high expectations of this cruise because I'd so enjoyed cruises on other of the Seas category on Royal Caribbean. The stateroom, a Promenade View cabin, was fun, but rather smaller than balcony cabins I've been in before. The Promenade is a marvelous experience just by its self. Just like a busy street in a smart shopping district, with many shops to browse, a little restuarant, ice cream counter, and a band stage with daily entertainment. Room to dance to the music. Bustling, energetic "street" almost as long as the entire ship. The wait staff in the dining room (I definitely recommend "My Time Dining". Was superior. Reserve a table by the window and enjoy the experience.

Cruise from Galveston by Havenone

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had the best room steward ever, Dwight Burnett. Enjoyed the country band, Mickey Utley very very much. Our overall experience was very good. The only bad part was that I had a written letter from RCLDining@rccl.com, assuring me that we had early dining and when we got on ship, we had late. Then I had to stand in line for about 1 hour to change it. We were then put alone at a table, when we had requested other guest. There were many other guest with similar problem. It looks as though Royal Carribean is giving more attention to any time dining than then to repeated guest. From where we sat, I saw many tables of 8 with only 4 persons. We are cruising with R. C. again next month out of New Orleans. Hope we do not repeat this problem. Our card # Sherdell Breaux 334068992, Robert Breaux 334069053.

Great cruise on a great ship!!! by okmills

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second cruise, but the first on Royal Caribbean. We loved everything about the cruise--a great stateroom attendant-Harold , great waiter-Ayesha and asst waiter-Curtis. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The activities on the ship were varied and gave us plenty to do--shuffleboard, mini-golf, hot tub, pool, casino. You name it, we did something different every day. Our cruise director, Carly, made sure there was a lot of fun and laughs for everyone. She was great!! We also enjoyed our shore excursion in Honduras. Unfortunately our shore excursion was cancelled in Cozomel due to weather, but we managed to get our own tour with a local taxi driver. All in all, a great vacation. We are looking forward to our next cruise already.

We were not able to board and was told we may not receive a full refund Also We were told that someone from the ship needed to come down to view or documentation and knowone ever came down. Waited for hours for our lugguage and received damaged. Taken other cruises before but h\I have never been treated like this before.

Great cruise! by williemama

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The boarding process was awful - over 2 hours in line. Good thing this was at the end of November, summertime in that crowd would have been unbearable! The food was good - not always hot at Top Hat and Tails. Ship was great and all staff was very friendly and professional. The shows were marvelous and very much enjoyed the ice show. Incredible young people entertaining in all aspects - musicians, dancers, skaters and singers - even the juggler!
