Review summary

It was a nice cruise. We had a good time and received excellent service. We met lovely people in the Diamond and Suite lounge and all around the ship. We would sail on this ship again. We sailed with 2 other couples who also had a nice time. Unfortunately, they all got COVID within days of getting off the ship. We didn't probably because we got it in July.

Embarkation

Got there slightly (about 20 minutes) early than our assigned time. Everyone else did as well...or earlier because of the SpaceX Launch that was supposed to take place. We all got emails telling us to note our times and be careful with higher than usual traffic due to this.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good in all venues. Windjammer was usually kind of crowded so we only went on port days. Had dinner in MDR most nights and had excellent service from Vlad and Ekadek. The food there was mostly very good. Had a few things weren't awesome but not terrible.

Onboard Activities

We really wish they wouldn't do so many activities in Schooner. It's not very big. It got congested and there was usually no place to sit unless you got there 30 minutes or so early. Many people would just sit there for hours. We couldn't enjoy the trivia (which we love). We did the escape room and had fun doing that. It was pretty tough! We met some other passengers who were very nice. It is around $20.00 pp to do this. Some folks showed up and didn't realize you had to pre-book and pay. We also went to the library once to learn that it was also used as a Pinnacle lounge. Why? Just remove the library! We got an "unfriendly welcome" from a pinnacle person the one and only time we went there. We didn't know and if there was a sign we didn't see it. Plus, anyone can walk in there! We are Diamond and you had to use your key card to get in to the Diamond lounge. I am not sure if that was the official pinnacle lounge or if we encountered someone who wanted it to be "their" lounge. It was weird.

Entertainment

The ice show, Under the Big Top" was very good! We loved it.

Ship Quality

We really liked the design of the ship. This was our first time on the Mariner and our first time on a Voyager class ship. We really like it. The public areas were nice. We never felt crowded except for in Schooner's.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a Grand Suite. It was kind of worn and had a broken/worn window shade. The carpet was mismatched and the privacy curtain had to be jimmy rigged to keep it from flopping out. The bathroom sinks and floor were kind of worn. The tile in the tub area had mold and was dingy. It also had a shower curtain that had seen better days. The suite had decent space and storage. The balcony was nice. The room had lots of light. We enjoyed the Lavazza coffee machine. IT was mostly quiet as well. We didn't hear too much noise from outside or our neighbors. We are grateful to have this cabin but it could have been more updated.

Ship tip

Go to the Bamboo Room!

One of our favorite ports.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

Didn't get off ship.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas Did not visit port

We were supposed to do the helium balloon but it was cancelled. We have been here before so we didn't get off the ship.

Disembarkation

Could have been better organized but we got off the ship. The parking garage situation seemed to get pretty hairy as we were leaving. We will do self assist next time.
