There are lots of options of things to do. We took the Tulum tour with the ship. It was a very good tour, but be prepared for a lot of walking. When you get to Playa del Carmen, they walk you through the town several blocks to the busses, then there is a 700 meter walk to get to the entrance from the parking lot at Tulum. (You can take a shuttle here for $2.00 but the group elected to walk and the group had to stick together. This was a little too much for mom) Be sure and bring your bathing suit. You can walk down to the beach and swim during the tour. This was never mentioned in any information we got, and I almost got in the water in my clothes, but didn't want to be wet on the busride back. The ruins are really pretty cool and iguanas are everywhere.

Make a note that Dunns River Falls has a charge of $15.00 per person to get in. We were not prepared for this. Don't do the ship tour, just take a taxi from the pier, there are plenty of them there waiting. Shopping downtown, be prepared for very pushy people who expect a tip for giving you directions!

The snorkeling is great. We took a three hour tour with captain Bryan's boat The Bucaneer. It was great.
Don't Miss: Don't miss Sting-Ray City

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

Stay on the side of island near the ship. The other side is windy and waves which is not as nice for swimming. Go to the third bay at the end of the island for less people, near the barbecue lunch. we had the beach almost all to ourselves. The water playground closes at 2:45 p.m. so go early if your kids want to do it.
