Review summary

We were very impressed with the ship, staff and service.  We had heard great things about Oceania, and our experience was consistent with those recommendations.   St. Petersburg was fantastic, but other ports of call, such as  Tallinn, Gdansk and Riga, were more interesting and beautiful than anticipated.  The variety of tours offered makes for some difficult choices, but we were pleased for the most part with our selections.  By the time we reached Amsterdam and Bruges, we were ready to explore on our own and sample the local fare.

The evening entertainment and after-hours dancing in Horizons was great fun, and an unexpected bonus.

We had high expectations for the food and overall were satisfied.  A few dishes were unsatisfactory, but quickly replaced by the attentive staff.   Don't miss the Sea Bass at Red Ginger - outstanding!

The bed and linens were very comfortable, and we found ample storage for our needs. Could have used another electrical outlet, as most devices need recharging. Loved having the veranda and enjoyed watching as we pulled into or out of the various ports.

Ship tip

Took advantage of the wine package -- seven bottles for a fixed price and good savings opportunity. We also enjoyed having a drink at the Marina Lounge at Happy Hour.

Ports of call

Stockholm, Sweden

We went straight to the ship from the Airport -- would have liked to have seen some of the city.

Helsinki, Finland

We took the canal cruise and Porvoo visit. In hindsight, should have spent more time in downtown Helsinki.

St. Petersburg, Russian Federation

If you love art, don't miss the Hermitage!

Tallinn, Estonia

Beautiful town. Many amber shops -- prices seemed higher than what we saw in Riga, Klaipeda or Gdansk. Don't buy too soon.

Riga, Latvia

Enjoy a beer and a snack in the bar in the square.

Klaipeda, Lithuania

Enjoyed walking and exploring on our own as the ship was docked very close to the old town. A nice change from daily structured tours.

Gdynia (Gdansk), Poland

Amazing restoration and so beautiful!

Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany

This is a long day with 3 hours each way by bus to Berlin. Glad we went, but Berlin is a large city to sample in a day. Some of the sights were a quick drive-by, but then we spent more time than necessary at the Allied museum.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Tivoli Gardens is more of an amusement park than a garden. Still interesting, but not the best use of limited time. The canal cruise was enjoyable.

Cruise Skagerrak

Encountered some rough seas -- spouse was seasick half the day.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Visited the Rijkjsmuseum. Very impressed. Get there early! All the museums become overly crowded in the afternoon. Enjoyed lunch near the flower market and visiting the cheese shops.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

Great user-friendly town. Enjoyable short canal cruise and great little shops - bought some Belgian Chocolate for gifts.

Southampton (London), England

Delayed disembarkation, then a long bus ride to the airport. Traffic delays due to construction.
