The Majestic Princess is a beautiful ship that well maintained and very clean. The dining room service was good but slow at times. Most meals were close to two hours in length. That seems excessive to me. But overall, we had a great time and Princess will be at the top of my list when it comes time to plan out next cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were shocked out how smooth embarkation was. We got on board and wondered if we accidently skipped something because it moved along so well. Other ships and cruise terminals could learn a lot from Princess and Seattle.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was pretty good. The taste of most things we ate was fine but not exceptional. This was our first experience with Princess. We've had much better on other cruise lines. Not sure if it was the ship or the entire line. But I only had one or two things that were noteworthy. Everything else was just OK.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I was pleasantly surprised by how much Princess has to offer during the days on our cruise. Most cruise lines have very little to do outside of an occasional trivial game here and there. There was so much offered by Princess that we had a hard time doing everything that interested us. For us, that was a good problem to have.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The stage shows and live musicians were top notch. The quality far exceeded what we've seen and heard on other cruise lines.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The serve staff was great. But meals in the dining rooms moved at a pace that was a little slow for our liking. We never want to feel rushed but 1.5 to 2 hours for a meal is a little excessive. And this was the case at not only dinner but breakfast and lunch as well. I'm not sure if it was the kitchen or the servers that was causing the delays but it seems a little slow to us.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Cleanest cruise ship we've ever been on.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin in general was what you'd expect in a balcony cruise cabin. But the beds were very good. I typically fell like cruise ship beds are pretty uncomfortable. That was not the case with ours on this cruise. The beds were great. I've read that Princess has made great effort to ensure their beds are comfortable and that investment has paid off.
Ship tip
Don't eat breakfast or lunch in the dining room. The service is entirely too slow. The time for most meals from when we sat down to when we left was bordering on two hours. I don't mind a somewhat slower pace for dinner but there is too much to do and see to sit in the dining room at the start and middle of the day for that long.
City is fun to hang out in. The cruise terminal and Princess have teamed up to make the smoothest process of boarding and leaving that I've seen anywhere.
Beautiful city. If I could change any one thing about the itinerary of the trip it would have been to arrive earlier and stay longer at Victoria. I would have loved to have been able to explore this town more.
Fast and efficient. I usually dread the process of disembarkation because of the long lines and the sometimes wrap around the boat. But whatever Princess does to make it so, this process was amazing. Just as it was during embarkation, we kept wondering if we;d missed something because of the ease with which we got off the ship. Other cruise lines could learn a thing or two from Princess regarding this process.
Of the 6 Royal class ships, this is my favorite. The Hollywood Conservatory is amazing and although I like the pizza on Princess ships, the noodle bar is a nice change
Great review, and I'm glad you enjoyed it overall. I agree with the comment on Victoria. It is a beautiful port with lots to see and do. Seems over the years, cruisers are being short-changed on this gem. Hope that changes. I have a cruise in May specifically for a longer time in Victoria. My husband and I extended one of our cruises and ferried, so we had a couple more days.
