This was the second time we had been to Australia. The first time, 4 years ago, was what we had expected to be our one and only trip to Australia, but we loved it so much we had to go back! We had expected warmer weather since this was Australia’s summertime, but they had some unseasonably cooler weather. We always try to include excursions that are about animals, and these excursions did not disappoint.

There were always lots of activities to choose from every day of the cruise. We did take advantage of our two free exercise classes in the fitness center . We chose yoga and stretch lab, which were great! I used the Walking area on the Sun deck every day to get my miles .
Entertainment

The full company shows were excellent..Broadway quality. Apparently there were supposed to be more of those, but members of the performance team were ill. The in house band was excellent. There were several solo performers in MainStage who were just OK. A lot of the musicians who performed in the various other areas of the ship were very good.
Service and Staff

Our room steward was great. He was very personable and always attentive to our requests.
We ended up going to the same main dining room every day , requesting the same waiters because they were so much fun and very efficient.
Every crewmember that we encountered was friendly and helpful. Front desk staff was great… Always able to help. Excursion team was also wonderful.

The ship itself was beautiful and very well maintained and clean.
Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin itself was a good size and very comfortable. Our room steward always kept it clean. However, the cabin did show some signs of wear.
Ship tip
We had a great number of children on the ship. They were unsupervised… Parents were nowhere to be seen. They were loud and running in the halls. Be aware when walking through the halls— at one point I almost got run over by several teenagers running.
We did an excursion to the Barong wildlife sanctuary. It was a wonderful experience learning about all of the animals and the wonderful work that this sanctuary does.
Very interesting stop. We did an excursion with an aboriginal guide who is very informative and proud of his culture. The town itself was very small, and it was so close to the port that there was no way you could get lost!
Beautiful city! Lots to see and do. We took an excursion, and then had some time to meet up with friends who live in Melbourne and got to visit with them for a while. (We had met them on a previous Viking River cruise earlier in the year.)
This was a great stop. We did an excursion at the Cleland animal wildlife Park and it was excellent. I would’ve liked to have had more time to explore the city itself.
We had been to Sydney four years ago, spending a few days before our cruise. So we did not visit Sydney again, although we would’ve liked to. But because our flight arrived the same day as embarkation, we did not have time.
@zathros we are also booked on that transatlantic cruise next year, and it will our 2nd cruise on the Majestic! We absolutely loved 5he ship and especially the crew on our Alaskan cruise last year.
