Review summary

We were disappointed with the limited menu and inconsistent quality of food in the Main Dining Room on our recent cruise. Some dishes were overcooked, and the choices often felt repetitive. While we enjoyed the specialty restaurants, we wished for a broader selection and higher quality meals in the main dining venue. Being an Elite member the biggest disappointment, however, was the lack of adult-only areas on the entire ship. While we understand families are a large part of the cruise market, especially over Christmas, a dedicated space for adults to relax and unwind would have significantly improved our experience. The constant presence of children in most public areas made it difficult to find quiet time and enjoy a more peaceful atmosphere. Despite these drawbacks, we did appreciate the friendly crew and the variety of onboard activities. However, we would hesitate to recommend this specific cruise line to couples or adults seeking a more relaxing and adult-oriented vacation, especially over Christmas.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was like better Pub food. The lunch menu in the dining room was very underwhelming and constantly repeating

International Café

5 out of 5

"The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was fresh and well-stocked. While the wait for a cappuccino was long, it was still worth it! Just a suggestion: fresh milk would truly elevate the experience and price of AUD 6.-

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We have seen better activities

Hollywood Conservatory

3 out of 5

"I was surprised to find this cruise open to all ages, as I was expecting some areas designated for adults to relax and unwind. The absence of these spaces significantly impacted my experience as a passenger and Elite member seeking a more peaceful vacation."This emphasizes your expectation as an Elite member and focuses on the impact it had on your experience."Unfortunately, the presence of unsupervised children running and engaging in disruptive behaviour, such as playing with the instruments, significantly detracted from the peaceful atmosphere I expected as a passenger."

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not what it used to be. Lots of musicals and nothing SPECIAL for Christmas or NEW YEAR

Children's Programs

Too many kids on board and not too many activities for them.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Not enough cleaning sanitiser around the ship. The ship and design and Christmas decorations were well done

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We would have loved to sit down in the Stateroom, but there was only one chair. The weather wasn't so good, therefore sitting on the balcony wasn't an option.

Ship tip

"I always remember the carpet color in my hallway – saved me from getting lost more times than I can count!"

Well, here we go again.......another cruiser complaining there is too many kids on a holiday cruise. Just what did you expect. By the way, I've been on numerous Princess cruise and ships, and the food rarely repeated unless it was a long cruise. Also every day there is a Princess favorites that does repeat everyday, but I guess you have to take the time to read the other side of menu.

The adult area is on the sun deck.

Sadly the holiday cruises tend to be packed. Not much that you could do. I do suggest mentioning your experience in the Hollywood Conservatory on the after cruise survey from Princess. Hope your next cruise works out better.

Sorry this cruise wasn’t up to par.

The Hollywood Conservatory should be adults only just like the Retreat on other Royal Class ships. We have only sailed on this ship once for some reason and that was before Covid around asia, it was adults only then. We are boarding Majestic on 1st December 2024 in Los Angeles and disembark on 11th March 2025 in Rome. Should be interesting to see how this is managed in that time. If it is poorly managed, we can see ourselves spending a lot of time on our balcony on sea days.

Sorry this cruise wasn’t as expected. Hard to understand why there would not be special things for the holidays. And yes…..I like peace and quiet at times when we cruise too.
