Review summary

Great itinerary, beautiful ship, friendly staff, and good food made for an enjoyable trip. Would have appreciated being able to enjoy more of the local wines as advertised on the menu as by the glass service was disappointing.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Fairly quick, but crowded area for so many passengers

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The anytime dining experience in the Symphony dining room was subpar. The service was slow between starter and entree. Overall on the ship the wine supply was low and poor selection by the third night.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The afternoon activities on sea days did not seem as plentiful as other cruises with Princess. No marked running vs. walking track. The one there was was skinny and inconvenient passing thru the basketball/pickle court.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Overall pretty good. Best were the Magician, DuoAvarro

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Head waiter, Larry in Symohony dining and head waiter Rolando in Concerto were excellent. The bartenders Melody, Valen, Svatlana at Crooners bar were excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Thank goodness Crooners bar was on this ship. The lack of bars compared to other Royal class ships was disappointing. We missed the pizza by the slice on the pool deck and gelato stand. This was not our favorite of the three in the Royal class of Princess ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our stateroom steward did a nice job (Hernandez?). Bed was comfy and clean towels always available.

Ship tip

Be advised the Majestic is a lot different layout and amenities than the Royal and Regal.

Ports of call

Auckland, New Zealand

4 out of 5
Nice. We did two days prior on our own.

Tauranga, New Zealand

5 out of 5
You do spend most of your day traveling to the Maori village. Unfortunately, not much time to see the port. Did excursion with private company.

Wellington, New Zealand

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed it. Did on our own

Akaroa, New Zealand

5 out of 5
Nice easy port to get around. Did excursion on our own.

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand Did not visit port

We were sorry to have this port skipped due to fog and tide.

Cruise Fjordland National Park

5 out of 5
Fabulous. Loved the commentary by the Ranger. Would have appreciated the commentary being broadcast on stateroom balcony beside the tv in stateroom to hear better.

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

5 out of 5
Did excursion with the ship. Way over priced, but felt with logistics of visiting Port Arthur needed to use the ship.

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
We loved it. Would go back.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Being a platinum member with Princess affords us the separate lounge which is nice.
