Excellent cruise by jmartinink

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved having a balcony even though we didn't sit outside often.  There was so much extra light in the room and the feeling of extra space.  The entertainment was first class.  We especially enjoyed the ice skating shows.  Very amazing.  (Tip:  go at least 45 minutes early to get a good seat).  Our cabin steward was Debra Jack and we cannot say enough good things about her.  She was just the very best.  The food was not as good as we've experienced with other cruise lines but it was adequate. We didn't realize that we were not actually in Honduras when we were on the island of Roatan. We are older and there was a lot of walking on the Gumbalimba excursion.  I enjoyed the park a lot, especially the monkeys and birds.

Very nice ship, good food, excellent service. by cruzwoz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have nothing but positive things to say about this cruise.

The staff was friendly and upbeat the whole cruise.  This includes all the staff from the bars, dining room, windjammer, pool deck, etc.

Embarkation and disembarkation was terrible!!!

Good not Wow! by garydcox

The Diamond club was not set up or staffed for the number of people.

Looked like a number of special groups in the Diamond club. The Diamond club is the main reason we cruise Royal Caribbean.

BEST TRIP YET! by Cruiser898

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We just came back from our 7 night cruise out of Galveston. We were originally booked on Empress of the Seas, then due to Dry Dock issues,  it was canceled and we switched itinerarit's. BEST IDEA EVER! Bigger ship, LOTS of great shows, fun things to do for all ages! My group decorated our own cupcakes at the Cupcake Cupboard! Food was wonderful no matter if it was in the Windjammer or Main dining room! Routan,  Belize and Cozumel were great! Snorkeling experience in Cozumel was outstanding! Hands down best trip ever!

Second trip on Liberty. Not as great as the repositioning. by Cruiser202

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Please work on the Loyalty rewards and how to handle all of the people who have reached Diamond and above.  A bit disappointed.  They were unprepared to handle that many people.  Bad example for those who had their first experience with being a Diamond.

So-So by mji

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Although we were with friends on this cruise and had a great time overall, I did not find the RC cruise itself to be exceptional.  In particular, it seemed that so much of what was offered on board that interested us now involves an extra fee. (We were EXTREMELY pleased to find that the frozen yogurt in the pool area was still provided at no extra charge!!!)   With regard to exercise opportunities, I will never understand why Zumba classes are free and there is a charge for Yoga.  (If there are not enough mats, towels would do!)  While the meal we had in Chops Grille one night was good, it was not that much better than the dining room --- and in fact our waiter in the "fancy" restaurant wasn't as personable or professional as those we had in the dining room -- and the atmosphere certainly wasn't anything warranting the cost of the meal.  And had I known before the cruise that to get off the ship at the Belize port would require a 35-minute tender each way (impossible for my husband who suffers from Parkinson's), I likely would have chosen another itinerary.  Luckily the weather was good the entire trip.  Had it not been, and pool time not been an option,  I don't think the activities offered would have held our interest.  Would have liked to have the option of attending a cultural lecture, playing dominoes or board games, dance lessons, line dancing etc.  And for those of us who are sensitive to smoke, spending time in the casino literally "took our breath away."    With regard to the "blowout" sales....holding them in the narrow Promenade area and close to or during the dinner hour was ill-conceived at best.  Unless one pushed and shoved their way to the table, the merchandise for sale couldn't be seen.   I've picked up a $10 watch or two on every cruise we've taken -- except this one as I was not about to "fight" my way through the frenzy of women grabbing merchandise left and right.    And if one simply wanted to get from one end of the Promenade to the next the congestion made it next to impossible. I doubt that it would have passed a safety inspection.  Also seems like the disembarkation process was the worst we've ever experienced.  Having to "hurry up" to make it to an assigned area and then wait and wait and wait until one's number is called was unnerving --- we could have leisurely finished our breakfast had we been advised that the process was delayed by nearly an hour.   And finally, although we were in group #3,  the lines to go through customs were as long as the busiest  day at Disneyland.    And I suspect it was because we were all tired after a fun-filled 10 days with little sleep but some folks were downright rude to one another having to push their luggage through the narrow "snaked" lines and then having to search for the transfer shuttles to the airport.  A few more RC personnel available to guide folks to where they needed to go would have helped.

Ports the Best Part by dmpryce72

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is not made for people being together as a group.  Too hard to find tables big enough for a group in the buffet area.  Buffet staff is amazing though.  Best part of the ship experience.  Promenade is SO narrow that you can't even walk together as a couple and when there are sales you can't walk through at all without a lot of trouble.  Shore excursion staff was rude and not helpful in any way.  Room staff was great.  Ice cream machine is on the pool deck where kids make a huge mess of it, it's always broken or out of cones.  It should not be in that location where it can be abused and broken all the time.  Not enough food choices on this ship for being such a big ship.  The ship is not built to push you outside and to give you views.  It's built more to push you inside.  I hated that.  My previous experience with RCL was the Serenade, which was just the opposite.  Will try NCL for my next cruise.

western carribean adventure by wcjones5393

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was OK.  There was too many Spanish commercials on the TV and not enough English speaking channels.  The food for dinner seating was minimum portions but tasty.  The guest should have the choice to have the gratitude charges added to the account and not automatic charged.  Darius did a excellent job with the housekeeping and providing what was needed.

I felt like a queen by Cruiser939

Everything on this cruise was impeccable. I would highly recommend to everyone.  It was my first cruise but the people I talked to on the ship that were seasoned cruisers had nothing but good things to say.

Cruisin' friends. by Cruiser890

Anne Marie  you are the best.  We learned so much about Belize it was mind blowing, thanks to a local that took us around his city.  The beach in Roatan was absolutely gorgeous and the dune buggy excursion was so much fun with friends. The ship was huge with something going on every minute and the food....was delicious.  Thanks again.

Fun family vaction by Cintilanti

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time. The ship was beautiful and very clean. The food was good, but not great. On our last night we ordered the Seafood meal and were very disappointed to find out it was probably a Costco special, frozen battered cod with frozen battered shrimp and scallops exactly the same you find on the frozen isle at Costco, served with frozen peas and carrots, probably also from Costco. While we found the selection at the buffet good we find it sad that the meals served at dinner on the Carnival Cruises we went were much better. Service is good but also not the best, some of the staff specially at the shops and bars were slow in service and didn't seem very happy to serve us. What was most disappointing to us was to find the Boomerango water slide still not working. I understand they having problems with a new feature, but the way they handled it was what really bothered me. I wish they had informed us in advance via email, maybe with an apology.  It would've been a lot less disappointing to know ahead of time. Instead they chose to ignore the problem. There was no mention of it, no one talks about it, not even on the video they show of all the recent renovations, they talk about everything but that. It's the White Elephant of the ship, which is ironic because they were starting to stall some foam padding on it which are actually White. Having said that the staff at the Flowrider were awesome, our boys spent most of their time there and had a blast and the entertainment was the best we have ever seen at sea. The ice skating show and the acrobatic show well exceeded our expectations, Saturday Night Fever was excellent, a true Broadway show at sea.

The excursion with snorkeling was the best. The fish and coral reef were amazing. The food service in the chop house, Italian and sabor restaurants for first class!

Lovely service by Hoorayforvacay

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have done this itinerary before on other RC ships. Liberty of the Seas is a sparkling clean boat with all of the amenities you expect from Royal Caribbean. We had a regular balcony cabin - next time we will spring for something larger, as there was not enough room for us to want to stay in the cabin for long. One chair for sitting - hardly room for two big suitcases to be stored. I take my own pillow with me as the room pillows are not the best quality. The only negative I have to say about the cruise is that the food, while perfectly adequate, seemed a bit uninspired. I've been on other RC cruises where it seemed the daily food choices were more varied. There were never any identified gluten free desserts offered, as has been the case on our other trips. We also ate at Chops - while the food is decent I don't see the need to frequent the specialty dining again. It was good, not great. Overall, the service from each and every person we met on the ship was exemplary, and is part of what makes cruising so nice. The itinerary: Jamaica - meh. We only got off the boat to walk around the port shopping area, as we have done Dunns River Falls and sightseeing there before. Cayman - Heaven on earth. Seven Mile Beach is where we land and it's perfect. Cozumel - we went to Mr. Sanchos. It's $55 per person to get in with the all-inclusive package. Food and drinks served on the beach. The margaritas are stout, and after having my first one I saw the resident iguana being carried by his handler. Said iguana was wearing a diaper. Seriously the funniest thing I have seen all year and I would go back just to see that diapered iguana. Great service there and good souvenirs. We will probably do this itinerary again as it is an easy drive for us to the port. I hope RC ups their game on the food.

Can't wait to do it again! by redbear48

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise was amazing.  This was my first time booking through and Daniel Hammers was great to deal with and guide me through the booking process - making everything so easy.

Our ship was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The buffet meals in the Windjammer offered a wide variety for breakfast and lunch.  Our dinners in the Main Dining area offered a variety of choices and all of the meals were delicious and service was excellent.

We attended a few shows which were great and had chances to participate in many different events.  Never a dull moment.  Can't wait to go again.

Overall by iverson

The ship and staff were wonderful!  It was our first cruise and it hooked us!  Something for all age groups.  Staff was wonderful from the cruise director to the wait staff!  Timed dining was great, Serene & Ivan were a hoot and took wonderful care of us.  Bringing us whatever we needed and/or wanted!  Ports of Call were nice with the exception of Jamaica.  Jamaica was rough once you got out of the port.

Lots of Fun on first-time Cruise by namacuix

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a blast. We felt so pampered! Everything we needed was readily available. The staff was amazing. The food was delicious. The onboard shopping was great. The activities were fantastic!

The only complaints we had was the embarkation was a mess and some activities were canceled without notification. We couldn't hear the announcements because the tent was loud and the speaker system was horrible and the staff didn't make an effort to make sure the messages were being broadcasted to everyone. They left it up to our fellow guests. Also, while onboard, we understand that some events would have to be canceled. No advanced or notification at the time of the event was given. Our only clue that it was canceled was because no one showed up. There was an event at the SPA that was canceled. We asked them to notify us when it was rescheduled but never got a notification.

All in all though, we enjoyed this cruise with Royal Caribbean a LOT and are looking forward to repeating the experience with them!

Horrible Food, Massage Sales by tonyabowman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was really dissapointed in the quality of the food. Thank goodness for the turkey  burgers, fries, and pizza on the buffet every night. Pizza wasn't great but lessor of two evils compared to most of the food. Still can't decide if they were putting nasty food out on the complimentary buffet to force you to eat at one of their expensive restaurants or not.

Second I paid a 150.00 for a massage which was amazing but then the therapist kept pushing products that I didnt need even after I told her I have a perscription face creams. Kind of ruined the relaxed state I was in from the massage.

That should not suprise me as you feel like you should avoid staff even walking in to the dining room they are trying to sell you something. Worse than the locals at the ports 😞

This was my 3rd cruise and I really liked norwegian better. Not as flashy as royal but still very nice for those that care more about  quality food and service.

Review of March 27, 2016 Cruise by cindystillwaggon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

While my husband and I thoroughly enjoy cruising, especially on RCCL, we were just a little disappointed with our dining experience.  The cause may have been inexperience with our wait staff and we completely understand that.  We just didn't feel that it was A+ like our previous cruises have been.  On the flip slide, our drink waiter (Antonio) was on top of it at every meal and even when we saw him on the pool deck.  He was always eager to please and even had a drink waiting for my husband every night.  Our other issue was with the port of Galveston.  I'm not sure what needs to be done to get that port more organized, but it took us three hours to get off the ship, through customs and to our RCCL shuttle to the airport.  We have never had to wait like that before.  We arrived in Galveston the day before sailing and we did not have a rental car.  The City of Galveston does not offer Uber and cabs were very difficult to get.  On the day of sailing, we first went to church and then to a small café for breakfast.  We called for a cab when we were paying a bill and an hour later (and after calling the cab company three times), we still did not have a cab.  Even though we enjoyed being in Galveston, I don't think we would ever cruise out of that port again.
