It was pretty good. There wasn’t really long lines like we’ve experienced before.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Most of the time the food was excellent. A couple of nights the menu just wasn’t up to par as we’ve experienced before with HAL

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
There was nothing like in cruises before. We loved the cooking classes each day in the past. They vanished this cruise. We liked the theater on the ship where we could get popcorn and watch a movie.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
What stage shows, if there was one it wasn’t advertised and we didn’t hear anything about great stage productions and entertainment like we’ve enjoyed in the past. I can’t believe the HAL put so much money into music venues. It was hard to get seating. After listening to music for two nights we were done. It’s not that we aren’t educated or appreciate music but enough was enough. We missed going to the big theater to hear our cruise director bond everyone, tell us of the upcoming events. We didn’t feel any bond with other passengers. The cruise director instigated that. We felt like we were one big family. With the horribly loud music you couldn’t hear each other talk Due to the glue or the Cruise Director you just felt like you were on a huge ship with no one really trying to make friends and with nothing to do on sea days! It was boring. We saw almost every movie played in our room. That got really boring to. While sitting on our balcony it was beautiful but got pretty warm after a while. The islands were beautiful.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service was absolutely outstanding as usual. Our room stewards were unbelievable meeting every expectation anyone could have. The service at bars, lido, guest services was perfect.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The design was beautiful but you must have cut down on employees because we never saw anyone in the restrooms but did see some wiping down the hand rails.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was really well cleaned. I noticed a little mold in the tub/shower. Our room stewards were just amazing. 5 Star. The Koningsdam is huge and a lovely ship but if you expect to see production shows like we’ve seen in the last 30 years and look so forward to the cruise director to kind of be the glue of your cruising experience FORGET it. We were bored because we didn’t see hobby classes, great lectures on wonderful subjects by very knowledgeable people. We would never go on HAL again. They have been our cruise line of choice for years....Why 1.) great food 2.) great nightly entertainment and productions 3.) great room stewards that made the cute little towel animals. I ask a steward how many rooms they had and the number was 30. Are you kidding me, no wonder we don’t see the darling towel animals and see them in the halls often. How sad.

Ship tip

You will do a lot of walking. Everywhere you go they are marketing you if only in their store windows. Most of the ship for public areas were part of the music venues. Don’t go expecting great entertainment presented by a wonderful Cruise Director. We never even saw him in 11 days. We didn’t go to the shows swaying you to go to port shops. Ya da ya da. We’ve cruised 34 times so this isn’t our first rodeo!

Not one of my favorites.

Castries, St. Lucia

Lucia was okay. There’s not much there. We got local food and walked around. The island was beautiful. We have taken all of the shore tours several times in 34 cruises.

Soufriere, St. Lucia

Was okay but the island was beautiful.

St. John's, Antigua

This is our favorite island. It’s just beautiful. This is our favorite island. We’ve had friends there for over 20 years. James at Balerina is awesome as always. His father Sam wasn’t there this time. We missed him. We buy all our jewelry at Balerina. Check them out. They guarantee everything you buy and stand behind their jewelry. We guarantee you will find better prices with as good or better than the ship kick back Diamonds,Emerald and Tanzanite international. We bought from them as we first started cruising then decided to compare prices, quality and beautiful pieces.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Did not visit port

Our favorite island. We go see James at Balerina Jewelry for the best prices in the Caribbean! We’ve dealt with Sam the dad, James one of 3 brothers. The other two have a Balerina Jewelry on two other islands. Don’t be afraid of buying there because we’ve dealt with them for 20 years. They have a US number and stand by each piece they sell.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

I like how you didn't visit st Thomas but you still praised a jewelry store. Seemed like an advertisement to me.
