Review summary

We cruise mostly based on the itinerary and this cruise had multiple stops in the Balkans, which interested us. We cruise mostly on HAL for the quality of the food in the main dining room and the varied menu there. We also like the smaller ships that HAL uses. The Koningsdam is the largest in the fleet, but right sized at 2600 passengers.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easiest embarkation ever on any cruise and we don’t have priority

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We sail on HAL a lot because of the quality of the food especially in the main dining room. This cruise was no exception.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The World Stage was not that appealing since the line dropped Broadway style shows. The smaller venues were excellent though including B B King’s, Billboard and Rock and Roll

Cabin / Stateroom

We sprung for a Signature Suite. It was worth the money. It is well laid out with plenty of plugs for recharging devices and more clothing closets and drawers than we would ever need. The bathroom had both a stall shower and a Jacuzzi tub. The king size bed was very comfortable. Our room even had a Murphy Bed to use if we had a third person.

Disembarkation

We had an 11:15 am departure in Rome so we elected expedited disembarkation, arranged for a private driver for $E150, got picked up at the dock at 7:45 and made our flight with lots of time to spare. The whole process was easy.
