Review summary

For those who have cruised Holland America ships many times, be prepared for some changes! This very modern and very large ship may not be exactly what you expect or are accustomed to. The new things are WONDERFUL for the most part!(The World Stage, The Dutch Cafe, The New York Pizza and Deli) Other changes will be dependent on your like/dislikes. The wine blending venue is (I think) pretentious and a waste of time and money. The lack of a large ,well stocked library, is a problem for others. The Lido buffet, tries and I mean tries!

The entertainment is better than ever! The dancers (all Ukrainian or Russian) are the BEST I have ever seen at sea! The incredible staging certainly contributes to their talent. The LED projections which surround you take you instantly from one place to another. The FROZEN WORLD , multi-media show with orchestra is spellbinding, even if you have been to Antarctica before!!

Unfortunately, don't expect a crew talent show, Dancing With the Stars at Sea, or passenger talent show.

All in all, Holland still packs a punch and delivers a great cruising experience, just don't live in the past and Bon Voyage!!!!

This is the first time my inside cabin had a window, which was totally unexpected. It faced the jogging track and is on the Sun Deck (#11)

Ship tip

Few seem to know the New York Pizza and Deli is open for breakfast and was always nearly empty. Their menu is limited, but the Breakfast Bagel was yummy!!

I too missed a crew show.  But, I loved the newness of the new ship.  It is a departure from the traditional HAL ship and it will take awhile for long time passengers to accept the larger sized ship.  Many older passengers will find the ship too big to navigate.
