Review summary

Good cruise, but we found the passengers were a bit older than we expected. Not many kids on this cruise for our daughter to interact with. Scottish ports were our favorites. Ireland was great scenery, but the Royal excursion tour guides were not very good.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was great - we were onboard within 30 minutes

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining food was pretty good - definite upgrade from our previous Royal Caribbean cruises. Both Chops Grill and Giovannis were good too. Windjammer buffet was an upgrade as well from past cruises. We mostly enjoyed breakfast over lunch, but lunch offerings were fine too

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Mostly did trivia games on this cruise, as well as other cruise staff nightly entertainment

Entertainment

2 out of 5
They weren't very good. Only thing we really enjoyed was a cruise staff activity that involved members of the audience.

Children's Programs

Daughter is older than this club

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room attendant and our dining room staff were awesome!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It's OK but the ship shows it's age in places. Stains and rips in carpets I did notice, but for the most part, the ship was in pretty good shape

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Great room for the 3 of us. It's designed for a group up to 6. Our daughter had her own "room" (small enclosure covered by a curtain), and she loved having the privacy. Had some issues with the shower and water heat, but it was resolved.

Ship tip

Try to get a room near the center of the ship. We were at the very forward of the ship, and always heard the thrusters when we docked. In tender ports, the anchor chain made a lot of noise too.
