Review summary

Personally I like the eastern Caribbean as it epitomizes island living. New stops for us we’re Grenada and Dominica. I would definitely rerun to them.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Izumi

5 out of 5

The location of this venue is a bit odd. Tucked in the back near the basketball courts. But the sushi was great. On Jewel of the Seas Izumi has not been upgraded to hibachi style still with hot rocks but the sushi and other offerings were top notch

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

This area is to me the place to hang. It is spacious. Bar service is great and the staff on Jewel of the Seas always on the spot

Conceirge Club

5 out of 5

Great area with a comfortable bar and sheltered outdoor seating area too. The happy hour snacks were among the best of any Royal Caribbean ship I have been on. Kudos to the chef on jewel of the Seas.

Entertainment

Singers and dancers were great. So was the tango show. The comedians were a disappointment

Solarium

Excellent are to relax and read. No kids. Nice bar and snacks. Night airy and a cool spot to spend the time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Jewel of the Seas has the friendliest staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I think the radiance class is the best designed of Royal’s fleet. Windows galore.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Enjoy the views. Rooms at the rear have some engine noise. Try to get rooms near the centrum

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We overnighted near the airport. Uber to the ship. Upon our return dock workers (baggage handlers) were on strike and blocking access to the port. We were lucky and walked off with our bags. Not Royal Caribbean’s fault.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Delightful port. Had a great tour. Port facilities were good. It’s a bit of a hike from ship to terminal but shuttles were provided

St. George's, Grenada

5 out of 5
First time but a nice introductory tour. Would love to revisit

Roseau, Dominica

5 out of 5
Greeted by schoolchildren singing. Charming island. Had seen some damage by the hurricane but the people were the friendliest.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
There were 5 ships at the same time making trasport to the main town frustrating.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Best duty free

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Easy disembarkation was marred by baggage handler strike. Fortunately had elected to walk off with bags but taxis were scarce as protesters blocked the main entrance to the pier.
