Review summary
We enjoyed our 7 night southern Caribbean cruise aboard the RC Jewel of the Seas. Embarkment was very easy with no delays at 1230 pm leaving from San Juan port. We arrived a day earlier than cruise and stayed an extra day after cruise in San Juan. Airfare was cheaper by several hundred dollars by coming in late Sat. before and leaving the Monday after cruise. There was a change of our itinerary from St. Kitts to St. Martin which was actually good, but we never were notified by R.C. of change or reason for change. Overall a very nice cruise visiting St. Thomas, St. Martin, Aruba & Curacao. Based on our cruising experience we found Royal Caribbean to be not quite as nice as Princess Cruises and only slightly better than Carnival. We had heard that R.C. was a lot nicer but we did not find that to be true based on overall experience ( food, entertainment, etc.) The Jewel of the Seas is due for a facelift and upgrades in April 2016. We found the ship to be clean and well maintained. The crew was very good also. There is a lack of deck chairs on sea days with most good seats by pool "reserved" by 8 am with towels. books, shoes, etc.
