a nice cruise by JudyP7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Hawaii

The ship was clean and nice looking . The entertaiment was good . Food was average . The weather wasn't the best so we didn't spend much time out on deck . There were a number of things I didn't like about the cruiselines charges . It appears to have nominal charges for different things on the ship . Charges for classes given . Two different dinning areas that cost between 15.00 and 20.00 per person . Ice cream shop . So I guess I haven't been use to these extras on other cruise ship . I don't think this would be my first choice of cruise lines in my furture travels .

Great Way to Se the Lights Would have given a 5 except for a few glitches read on, weather challenged trip by radiationman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Overall a really great cruise which affords plenty of opportunities to see the aurora, assuming the weather cooperates. Northern lights opportunities include Evening at Tromso and two evenings at Alta for viewing from land, as well as possible viewing from shipboard leaving Tromso and Alta as well as evening in Lofoten shipboard. Luckily weather cooperated and and we were able to view northern lights at all locations. On two of the nights the bridge announced appearance of the lights over the intercom, on the others they did not and one had to be up and about on their own. As noted Port of Stavanger was skipped due to inclement weather. Captain made and announcement day before, indicating the reasons, and that they were looking for another port if possible. Well no other port was found, nor did they even find a fjord for scenic cruising. this made for 4 sea days in a row!! No other info from bridge i.e. we looked at so and so port but could not dock because of.... Updates on this mater would have been appreciated. No compensation whatsoever, not even a drink!!! Medallion class app: first time we used it. Pretty easy to upload documents etc. pre cruise which are then available at check in. As supplied kind of clumsy and dorky wearing medallion around neck. We bought wrist straps for I think $12 each much easier and comfortable. Very convenient as the medallion serves as id card leaving and boarding the ship, opening stateroom door , and ordering drinks etc. to wherever one happens to be. Easy to reserve dinner time in MDR. Unfortunately cannot reserve specialty restaurants. Also can only communicate with front desk/guest relations. cannot use the app to communicate with dinning, shore excursions etc. still need to call or visit these departments. Shore excursion section only shows trips available to purchase, does not list those you already have bought , this would be useful. Section called journey which supposedly lists onboard activities such as entertainment is not user friendly, hard to figure out whats going on. The printed Patter that you receive each pm is more useful.

Another fine cruise by DennyNSue

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess

This cruise was one of the best cruises. People were friendly and I felt very safe in every city. The only disappointment is that the countries were very much alike and getting older I have trouble remembering which was which.

Transatlantic by almtsbb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Island Princess

From my point of view it was a good cruise but there were issues. Almost at maximum capacity but staff still same number as for 1000 person cruise. The staff was stretched very thin. This resulted in delays in the dining room so food wasn't as hot as it previously (4/27/22 cruise) was. Also delays in minor maintenance. While I did not have these issue, there were lots of people with no a/c or hot water in their showers. Long lines at customers service for first 3 days of cruise. Things got better after that. I love sea days so enjoyed them all. Especially as we neared Iceland and began having almost 24 hrs of daylight. Sunset 1230am sunrise 200am no real darkness beween. Day 10 of 18 day cruise began mask mandate. Except when actually eating or drinking masks to be worn at all times inside ship. Numerous positive Covid cases. Staff started disappearing. By day 15 room service was reserved for quarantine rooms. On day 17 had lunch with a gentleman who said he had walked the entire ship and counted 73 quarantined cabins. Staff not included in that number. It was what it was. Got home from cruise and have remained Covid neg. All in all I enjoyed this cruise. And yes I would do another on Island Princess.

Great Panama Canal transit by almtsbb

Enjoyed cruise. With only 1000 people on a ship that holds 2300 was very spacious and no lines (except getting back on the ship at ports)

The Last Ship! by azhill2019

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess

Our 10 day cruise ended up being 8 days at sea and only 2 stops. There were supposed to be 5 stops but because of COVID-19 or bad weather we were not allowed to dock at 3 ports. As we were cruising we found out that Princess was suspending all cruises for 60 days because of concerns over COVID-19, so this kind of reminded us of the TV Show The Last Ship. We are thankful that Nobody on our ship got sick from COVID-19, and we praise God for to 2 medical emergencies that happen on the ship that they were doing better when we got back. Overall a good cruise and I would do the same cruise again. Just with a Mid Ship Cabin.

Excellent entertainment, clean ship, great personnel. by mrdm13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Pleasant experience. Would have spent much more on drinks if they had more alcohol in them. Very sparse levels of alcohol. This rating is coming from a customer who owned 5 large nightclubs....

Christmas cruise on Island Princess by gbenson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess

Cruise ports were great. Staff were all awesome. The ship is pretty boring unless you are over 65. We are 58 and was pretty bored on sea days. Music around ship is mainly violin and piano. Around the pool very rarely any music. Smallest casino ever seen on a ship. Shows were pretty good. Food was pretty good. Dont waste your money on Sabatinis Italian it was very bad. Have had much better on other ships. Bring lots of reading material. However they do play good movies.

Not The Best Ship and Not The Best Cruise by uncledoug

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We chose this cruise at the last minute due to the very low price. Apparently this cruise was a 'late add' to the 2019 sailing schedule when the Island Princess did not go in for it's scheduled maintenance. There were 1,963 passengers, less then the full ship capacity of 2,200 guests. So there must have been several dozen empty cabins. We were not offered an upgrade.

Island Princess - A Good Cruise Ship With a Few Flaws by AlabamaAl

The Island Princess is a very adequate cruise ship. The sacrifice of public areas for additional cabins, however, is a demerit.
