Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The Panama Canal excursion was unfortunate. You're not allowed off the ship unless you take their trip. The price was too high for a bus ride thru a rainforest. The food promised turned out to be one muffin. Worst of all, it took forever to let passengers back on the boat. The Health club was adequately equipped, but completely unattended (staff were in another room, conducting classes). They also need to provide charts to keep track of exercises.

This was the 1st cruise on Princess, we had a wonderful time & was kept busy with many different activities. Sometimes our activities overlapped but we made it happen. Met many different people from all over the world.

A relaxing cruise for the older set. by YvonneS3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Our cruise to the Panama Canal on the Isaland Princess was relaxing and wonderful. The ship is small because of the size restrictions of the Locks at the Canal. This was a plus for us since my husband has some trouble walking long distances. The ship is beautiful and many activities to enjoy. Dinning was excellent not a meal we didn't like. The buffet was open very early for all travelers to get a healthy breakfast before venturing off the ship for an excusion. We had a balcony room with excellent view, spacious interior. The ship could use a little upgrading since the showers still have curtains which make eveything wet. There is an adult only inside pool which suited most travelers since it rained quite a bit, that is beautiful and allows perfet views. Much of the entertainment was the same each night, they could improve on that. Overall the ports were a great choice and the excursions reasonably priced. This was our second cruise with Princess and we commend them for the great staff they employ.

A Disappointing Cruise by MadeleineG

Layout of ship good. Food adequate to poor. Shower stall very, very small - could hit elbows if you turn around. Cabin adequate.

Educational and Fun Cruise by PearlD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The Island Princess is an easy ship to navigate around. It does not feel like 2,000 people on the ship as there are a variety of lounges. One drawback is that the Horizon Cafe on the Lido deck does not open in the aft for outdoor dining compared to other larger Princess ships.

Fantastic! by JimP5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The Island Princess is an impressive ship, the crew was very attentive and the ship was run very efficiently. The entertainment on board was good, a couple very good comedians, and the production numbers were well staged. The only cons were the food, there was an abundance of course, but quality was that of a Dennys, edible but not up to standards I would have expected. We ended up using the buffet more than the dining rooms, because the service in the dining rooms was unreasonably slow. I understand the number of people being served is immense, but almost 2 hours for dinner is way too long. One other minor complaint would be the "celebrity" on board for a production show, Adrian Zmed, a has been actor and singer who has a little talent, but was out of place here. The show was all about his "rise to fame", and did not meet the standards of even cruise ship fare. The scenery we saw was fantastic! The shore excursions offered were quite well run, and a big variety was offered.

We were impressed with the size of the ship. The pools were great! There are enough hot tubs so they weren't too crowded.

Alaskan cruise by HeatherP3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This was our first cruise so we did not know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at the rooms. There was plenty of closet and cabinet space so that we did not have to just live out of suitcases. Having a balcony room was a great way to go. I think what impressed us the most was the kid's program. We have three children (ages 11, 10, & 7) and there were activities planned throughout the entire day for them. The staff were fantastic with all of the kids!

A fun short cruise by JoanO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The ship was just the right size but the 4 day cruise is not long enough. The entertainment was mediocre at best. I was a little disappointed in the dining service as the previous Princess cruise the table service was outstanding. We felt as though we were being rushed this time.
