Review summary

First of all I have to say that the crew and staff were amazing.  I give all of them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.  They were attentive, friendly and very helpful.  Great attitudes and seemed so happy to be there.  The ship was amazing and our stateroom with the balcony was perfect.  Comfortable bed and pillows, bathroom bigger than expected, and our steward freshened our room twice a day which was very nice.  Everything about the cruise was everything I had hoped for except the food.  I have to give the food portion of the cruise only ⭐️⭐️&1/2 stars.  I'm not a food snob by any means but one thing I am picky about is the temperature of my food and every hot item we were served was warm at best.  It seemed like everything was prepared and plated in advance waiting to be brought out to the table.  I realize that the ship has at least 2,000 people on board to feed but with people distributed in several different restaurants at a time, the quality could have been better.  I would have appreciated quality over quantity.  We did go to the specialty "Crab Shack" dinner one night and that was wonderful.  I was disappointed because this was our first cruise and I had always heard such rave reviews on dining but I can honestly say it was just fair to mediocre.

We did the Island Princess through the Panama Canal a few months ago. I agree with your review of the crew, most of them were awesome. My balcony cabin, however, was one of the smallest I've ever been in. The shower was ridiculously small and that curtain was useless. My Time Dining is a joke, or at least improperly named. You had to make a reservation after 8:00 am every day or plan on standing in a long line. That wasn't always possible when you were off the ship by then for excursions. Since this was your first cruise you had nothing to compare it to. Try a bigger ship or different line and I think you will notice a big difference.
