Review summary

We took this cruise to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

The Island Princess crew met all of our expectations, they were friendly, helpful and motivated. The food was great and the entertainment staff was super. The ports of call were excellent and the tours we took with Princess were organized well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had the "anytime dining" and it worked well for us. The food and service in the Bordeaux dining room was always great. If we were in a hurry, we would choose not to share a table. The Horizon Court dining was varied and well prepared.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We had fun watching the movies at night on deck.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The "Broadway shows" were superior to what we have seen on other cruises. We especially liked the Bayou show.

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Rolando Garcia was our server many times. He remembered our name from the first day we met, and was always super friendly and helpful. He is an excellent member of your staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We chose this ship because of it's smaller size and were very pleased with our balcony stateroom.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The closet was the largest we have seen on a balcony stateroom, and was very easy to access. The balcony was a nice size with no obstructions.

Ship tip

Do try to go to the shows, they are fantastic! Go early for a good seat.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

We stayed at the hotel Colon in Barcelona 3 days prior to the cruise and enjoyed it immensely . The hotel was perfectly situated across from the Cathedral. There is a covered market just down the street where you can purchase fresh fruit, salami's and cheese for a picnic. We had breakfast there also.

Toulon, France

5 out of 5
We toured two farmers markets, one in Sanary-sur-Mer, and also in Bandol.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
We hired a private driver and guide to tour the Vatican. I would highly recommend the company, Tiber Limo.

Naples, Italy

Mykonos, Greece

5 out of 5
Mykonos was one of our favorite stops, only wish we would have had more time there.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey Did not visit port

We took the tour to the house of the Virgin Mary and Ephesus, and were so glad we did. The Turkish people we met were warm and friendly. The carpet weaving demonstration was very interesting and viewing the beautiful carpets was a treat.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

3 out of 5
Too bad there is so much graffiti here, it really takes away from the city.
