Great trip through the Panama Canal!

Sail Date: April 23, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Suite

Small ship, easy to locate places you wanted to go. Cabin location is as important as real estate location--so choose wisely for your cruise.

Pros: The transit through the canal

Cons: Ports of call for a repositioning cruise

Recommends Island Princess? Yes!

Food and Dining
Horizon Court Buffet seemed to have the same selections each night--no changes other than the special "Oktoberfest" they had one night.
Entertainment
Disappointed they didn't offer the evening shows as afternoon matinees, especially on sea days when it was cloudy.
Ship Quality
Cabin / Stateroom
When going through the Panama Canal, select a cabin with a balcony to fully enjoy the transit.
Service and Staff
Cartagena, Colombia
Spanish Galleon tour was boring--didn't need to see where "Miss Columbia" was crowned for the "Miss Universe" Pagent.
Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Lots of beggars and those seeking donations at the end of the pier. Didn't like being hassled by every vendor when going through the small market by the ship.
San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua
Tender required to get to shore. Didn't take any tours.
Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala
Didn't take any tours, and was glad, especially when it was identified the Norovirus came on board at this port.
Oranjestad, Aruba
"Best of Aruba" tour was not that great, especially with lots of handicapped and older passengers who could not maneuver steps at the stops. Would have enjoyed going to the beach and just hanging out instead of being carted all over.
Don't Miss: The Natural Bridge
