I enjoyed it for being being my first cruise. And to have have it be during my Birthday was a plus! Ship was wonderful. Everything I imagined and more.

Great weekend cruise! by CVCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas

This was a last minute weekend getaway, and was an awesome time!! We would have had a stormy weekend at home in central FL... but instead we had a perfect day in CocoCay on Sat, and a great sea day on Sun! 🙂 The crew was friendly and provided great service... Our cabin steward did a good job making the bed softer, and keeping our cabin clean. The Windjammer was MUCH improved from a month ago.... they are opening up some self service to some stations... which speeds things up, and frees up crew to provide better service. It will great to see the Windjammer return to self serve more and more. Our cruise was at 95% capacity... but it didnt feel crowded.. just not empty like many cruises have felt since the restart. All in all it was a great weekend getaway!! 👍👍

Short Weekend Cruise by scottgreen916

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

A quick weekend get away after not being on a cruise for 2 years. Loved getting back out on a ship. Very disappointed after I bought the beverage package prior to leaving and only to find on board, there was a discount for the 2nd person, 50% off. Not doing COVID testing on board was disappointing as well. Otherwise great, just short.

Spring break on the Indy by butchdandy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas

There is a lot of things for my kids (10&6) to do. They stayed busy and had fun. Having to check out a towel annoyed me. Coco Cay was fun. The lack of seating at Coco Cay and the pool onboard and the low quality food are cons but the cheap price and fun activities are a pro. We would sail RC for the right ports.

Independence interdependence by Ruppedupp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas

We had some highs and lows on this trip. We learned a thing or two about cruising. Wish I would have brought more dress up clothes and nicer shoes as the last night people dressed nicely and I had to wear the same dress twice. My daughter turned 21 on this trip. She was a minor after we embarked and she needed to change her status in the middle of cruise, which was a hassle. She was upset when no one believed she was old enough to buy drinks even after her status was changed. She had to prove her age with her military ID over and over. There was nothing special offered for milestone birthdays. The karaoke bar was so small and they didn’t have more recent songs on the menu. Not even a great staging area for karaoke. We also learned that the restaurant’s close up early so be prepared if you want a late night snack. The drink station was out of ice in both machines. We thought Royal Caribbean was an upgrade but Carnival is just as good if not better. Maybe it depends on the ship? Coco Cay was the best experience but maybe we have to do more cruising before we decide on loyalty.

Very fun cruise by ehittinger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise was very enjoyable. Restaurants were great especially Giovanni’s Table. Excellent food and service. Very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was satisfactory. Balcony area was a little more roomy than I’ve had on other ships. We were traveling with another couple and it was nice being able to open the divider between the two balconies. Room service for breakfast was great.
