Review summary

It was a good time however would like to try a different cruise line next, over all the cruise was okay. The staff was great, the ship was clean however there would have been different ports we would have liked to have visited more than certain ones we did, the ship was outdated and the crowd on our ship was primarily elderly people we often felt out of place

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze took less than 40 mins from arrival to being inside our state room. The lines were long however moved very quickly and staff was helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was absolutely amazing, 5/5 for food. However the windjammer cafe was often extremely busy for breakfast and dinner and there was more than one occasion where there were no seats. Also the bar were busy and physically going to the bar to get a drink could take 20 minutes or more, make sure you get to know the wait staff who will get drinks much more quickly.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pools were tiny and often crowded, same with the hot tubs and chairs were often hard to find.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was great, great variety and always fun to go to.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean and comfortable however it is quite outdated in comparison to what some of the other cruise lines are offering

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was to be expected, it was tidy with plenty of storage however again outdated

Ship tip

Do not waste your time eating in the windjammer the main dinning room is absolute luxury and the food is to die for

Ports of call

Malaga, Spain

3 out of 5
Port was okay did not do an organized tour and wandered ourselves,

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
This was our favourite port we did the glories and gladiators tour and have nothing but great things to say

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5

Toulon, France

4 out of 5

Gibraltar (U.K.)

5 out of 5
A close second to our favourite

Disembarkation

Cruises on the Indy in September and early October will have a high proportion of older people who are seizing the chance to cruise after the school holidays when there will be fewer children on board. You will also get a high amount of people on the Southampton sailings who are cruising from there to avoid flying. If you are coming over from Canada anyway you may well be better off doing cruises leaving from Barcelona, Rome etc. Hopefully the ship will look better after it has had its makeover next spring.

Hi Twangster do you know when the indie is going to dry I am booked with the fam Jan 13 was curious if it will be before or after

Carnival doesn't do the Mediterranean unless a new ship has just been built and them only before it leaves Europe for life. On any line the time of year plays a factor in the passengers. When is school in session in the UK? Indy is going into dry dock soon. Plenty of new things coming, laser tag, water slides, trampoline park, escape rooms. As far as ports, did they change them or did you know the ports when you booked the cruise?

Mediterranean cruises are geared to adults. Carnival has all ages, lots of kids, older people, etc. Carnival has something for everyone, families, couples and singles.

Go carnival for younger crowd....3,4,5 days you'll get lots of drunk kids....the longer the cruise the older the people

Carnival might be a better cruise for you. They tend to have a younger crowd with plenty of clubs and other nightlife activities.
