Review summary

Cool new ship but I won't be on it again anytime soon. Extremely expensive to get aboard and then you just keep shelling out more money.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
There were so many options, lots of variety of food. The major downside is how many places are not included. It seemed like RC is trying to nickel and dime you to death on this ship. That's especially frustrating because it's the most expensive cruise fare I've ever paid. Chops Grille and Pier 7 are 2 ventures I think should have been included.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
So many things to do on this ship! The water slides are amazing, I was surprised at how long the rides felt. Excellent variety on them too. The water dome and shows are very cool, for sure make time to see one. Reason for missing stars is the annoying extras everywhere though. I can't believe how much they want to reserve some of the day beds at Hideaway. And all during the stay we found things that you had to fork out more money for.

Entertainment

4 out of 5

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff can have such a big influence for good or bad on a cruise and they hauled it here. Seemed to have an air of excitement and you could tell that being on the fancy new ship was exciting for them too.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very spick and span (to be expected since it's brand new). The ship doesn't seem to be as big as it is, and not in a bad way.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The rooms are as expected, par for the course for an interior room. The hard sided showers are nice though, and roomier than others I remember.

Ship tip

Wait for the hype to die down, hopefully prices drop soon

No nonsense. Just look at Carnivals stock price they are a company bleeding. They have yet to recover their pre-covid stock price and are taking advantage of their loyal customers. They are I financial peril. Not an opinion, it is validated on Wall Street.

Thanks for the review and your point of view regarding extra costs. I understand the frustration.

Royalcruzer... don't knock carnival's new ships until you try them...fyi celebration has just as many free dining options as icon... might want to research before spewing nonsense... you can give carnival Any nasty name you want... but I'll bet i get many more perks on my many cruises than you do on yours!

I like royal, but the post covid greed they have shown has priced me out with the combo of higher prices for shorter cruises and the non-stop upcharges. A lot of people trash talk carnival, but I have had very enjoyable trips with them too.

I can understand your point of view. For what a cruise costs, the up charges are frustrating

Glad to see someone call this out. Seems like everyone is just completely on the hype train blind to how annoying these up charges are. Even more so considering how much they want just to come aboard.
