Review summary

Disappointing. Very crowded. Hundreds of kids running around every day. Recommend NOT going the third week of January on Royal. Ship clean and employees very friendly and helpful. Dining room food was ok, not as hot as could be at times. Selection could be better. Windjammer very crowded and at times unorganized. Kids all over as well. Not able to use the Solarium restaurant this week, reserved all week for a special group. Too bad. Entertainment was great. Just get there early to get a good seat. Overall cruise was good, took three other couples and they have never been on a large ship like the Harmony. Probably will never do again. I had told them it would never seem like it was crowded, opps, that was a mistake. Oh well, now we know.

Service and Staff

All were very good.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Pretty good for the size of the ship. Windjammer kind of confusing. Salad area backwards from most buffets I have ever been to.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beds were very hard for me and my wife so I spoke to the room steward and she put extra layers of bed toppers under sheets and it was ok the rest of the week. Very clean room. Very noisy from folks next door with children on both sides.

Ship tip

Don’t go the third week of January. Way too many kids running around. Crying yelling etc.

A lot of kids are out for MLK day and for ours it was the end of a quarter so they ended up with a 5 day weekend. Perfect time for families who can't or choose not to pull kids out of school for an entire week.

The ship is always going to be crowed as they try to fill all the cabins. You are always going to have children on the cruise and sometimes more than other. I hope you did get some enjoyment from the cruise.

That is strange about the crowds. We sailed in the Allure this time last year. Sure there were kids but not overwhelmingly so. Could find a place away from the crowds. Never felt overcrowded, and I hate crowds! Most public school kids are back in school this time of the year.

What happens the third week in January that makes it so busy?

Ships are always crowded when school is out during the holidays.

Maybe we should forewarn you. We will be taking 3 teens on the Oasis March eighth.

Kids just want to have fun too!

If you want to cruise with fewer children on board, try Crystal, Symphony, Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas, Viking or a cruise of 10 or more days.
