Royal Carribean has always provided a great experience.

The only drawback to us was at the dock in Bermuda, the shuttle train did not come to the building, you had to walk out the dock to the gate.  That was hard for my husband who has spinal stenosis

Relaxing by jpbryant2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We are not into partying so I can't review much that way. My husband and I do cruises for the rest and relaxation which we got that part I would consider a 6 star trip also the dining experience we had was as well.Desmond and the waiter with him was an excellent pair we never had to ask for refills and they were very friendly. We tried to go to the shows and to be honest we were disappointed with them.Senior citizens with hearing issues probably enjoyed them but we saw one and decided no need to return we didn't expect stars onstage but they could have had better singers. Housekeeping well when i got into my cabin the first day to unpack there were toenails on the floor after that they were very clean. All this said I got the vacation I wanted I got 7 days where my cell phone was off and I had a week of rest.

Cruise leaves from Baltimore and goes to Bermuda by dgendell4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This cruise has a great itinerary, but the ship is fair at best.  We have cruised on Royal Caribbean's big ships.  Grandeur is second class in most areas.  The pools are small, the gym is so small it's dangerous. There are so few entertainment areas that much of it takes place in the Centrum, the entertainment in the main theater is not up to standards we have come to enjoy.  No flow rider, a tiny rock wall, no sports court, no ice rink,  the furniture in our room was in bad shape with some held together with masking tape and a drawer that could hardly be opened.  There is no refrigerator and the "mini bar" is spread out all over the counter top leaving limited room - we had it removed.  On the positive side the crew does a great job of providing an enjoyable cruse with what they have to work with.  They are hard working, friendly and are helpful.  Excellent art auctions now that Park West has is back on the job.  Much better than when RC was doing it.  We are Emerald members of the Crown and Anchor Club - the benefits are almost worthless.  For example they now give you a whole 15% off a $30 internet package rather than $10 free.  By the way the wifi is VERY slow and much of the time you can not even get on it.  The food is ok but continues to decline as the years pass.  The best part of this cruise is that it leaves from Baltimore and goes to Bermuda.  Apparently RCs bigger ships can not fit under the 2 bridges.  Why not cruise out of Philadelphia or Norfolk and give us nice ships???

Good but for older crowd by rprocacci

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The majority of the boat was over the age of 70. I felt the activities were more geared towards that age group, multiple art shows and bands playing music for them. At night the bars were closed by 9, unless you went to the casino or the club. Not a fan of either! Would have been content sitting outside on the pool deck, but there was no bar open past 9! At night I felt there wasn't enough activities for us to do, unless you like the casino or club, no thanks. Other than that, we made fun on our own and was overall just glad to be away on vacation. The crew and staff were wonderful as well as the food!

also to compare, we went on a RC cruise about 3-4 years ago in August to Bermuda on enchantment of the seas. On the boat I felt that we always had a schedule with things to do. On that boat we went to every show at night bc it caught our interest. This last trip on grandeur we only went to one show and it was the first night. We did go to some game shows but they got so crowded so fast that there was many times we were standing so we left.

Bermuda Holiday by mikebliss13

I would rate this cruise an 8.5 out of 10.  Our 7th cruise but first cruise with Royal so we were not up-to-date on the beverage situation.  Purchased the SP package which includes glasses of wine.  It seemed that wine, if purchased separately, would be about $8/glass which I considered fair so we purchased that package only to discover that with the package, they reach down below the counter and pull out Tisdale.  Yeach!  I was soooooooooooo disappointed.  It is not mentioned that the package would be a $4/ bottle cooking wine.  If you are going to drink about two or three glasses of wine, don't purchase the SP package...just order one at a time from the upper shelves.  I almost feel this was a bait-and-switch scheme.  The other disappointment was the evening entertainment.  Felt the productions were sophomoric.  The upside was the food and dining staff were well above average and, aside from the island of Bermuda itself, was our highlight of the trip.  We ate in the main dining room and did not pay for the extra restaurants so we cannot rate them.

Baltimore to Nova Scotia by jws2797

Trip was very nice.  Crew and staff were excellent. Food in Dining Hall could have had more flavor. Food in serve-yourself Windjammer was excellent.  Cruise Director was amazing -- so much energy!  Shore excursions were so interesting.  Loved Bar Harbor and Halifax and the delicious lobsters we ate there.

Fall by mamadog11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

I fell in the buffet dining room from water on the floor that was coming out of the kitchen, people came over to me but no one took my name or cabin number or checked the next day to see how I was. I fell quite hard  and was sore the next day. Thank goodness I did not break my hip or anything else, this was not a good experience!

Great time by gbasinski

Our time on the cruise was most enjoyable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our stateroom attendant was excellent. The entertainment was enjoyable and our favorite was the comedian on the last night. His jokes were funny and could have been enjoyedby all age groups.

the food was good, and we especially liked the selection of appetizers.

FOOD WAS THE VERY BEST by shorin9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

ENTERTAINMENT AND OVERALL SERVICE WAS AS IF YOU WERE RESIDING AT A 5 STAR HOTEL/resort.

Interior cabins are Small, but for the cost, this is a genuine Bargain Cruise.

The price of food alone elsewhere would exceed the entire cost of the cruise.

The tours were also very informative and smoothly organized.

The only downside are the prices charged for add on and extras like bottled water, soft drinks and photos.  Perhaps it was Jessie James, CPA who established these prices.......

The auto tips for the staff at $12.00 per day per person charged to your credit card on file can be removed at guest services.  Some people we spoke with were not aware that this charge was being added.

The bottom line is this cruise deserves 5 Stars..

Missed a good show every evening like our other cruises, that is the reason for only three stars. Service was very good, food was very good, clean stateroom, all staff very courteous and helpful. David our server was extremely kind and good at his job. would use RC again.

Cruise in Review by rbtwolford

Everything on this cruise was great.  The food was outstanding, service was very detailed to make your dining experience very pleasant.  All the staff was helpful whenever you asked a question.  The entertainment was very good.  It covered something for everyone on the ship.  The Cruise Director made this cruise most enjoyable.  His energy spilled over onto all the events on the ship.  Royal Caribbean did themselves a great service by hiring this person.

"Guest Services" by hdmoorejr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Great serving people on board, from room attendant to waiter to barman, all wonderful.  Shore excursions were wonderful.  Guest services did no service and did not treat us as guests.  Trid to get room changed because of my husbands mobility limitations.  They said none available thoug only 1800 on cruise.  We were not even offered an upgrade which we would gladly have paid for.

Very relaxing by skebeets

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Everything about this cruise was fantastic, except the extreme heat and humidity in Bermuda itself and the fact that the ship ran out of our preferred beer 2 days before the trip ended.  The only other bad comment I have is that the staff went out of their way to talk you out of renting a scooter in Bermuda but we went for it anyway and enjoyed every bit of it.  If you have motorcycle experience, you should be fine.  Anyway, the food and dining staff was plentiful and wonderful, our room and ship was kept spotless, and the cruise and activity directors were approachable and super-friendly.  The pools and hot tubs were clean, the fitness center was GREAT, and they provided fun activities and good entertainment too.  I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing, yet fun-filled, vacation but if I were to do it again, I'd still change 2 things.  #1 - Since I don't drink as much as most might, I would NOT buy the premium beverage package again because I felt obligated to drink more in order to "get my moneys worth" and #2 - I also would NOT get an oceanview room since we only looked out our window 2 times the entire time.  Either no window or splurge on a balcony next time.  It was our first cruise so I cannot compare our experience to anything else.

The entire experience was very good. From the wait staff to the entertainment everything exceeded our expectations. I have traveled on Princess and Carnival as well. I found this experience to be the best of the three.

6 Night Bermuda by dsrogers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Bermuda was great and the crew on the the ship was very nice, was disappoint in the ship its self.  This was the first time sailing with royal Caribbean, we have sailed Carnival several times.  The state rooms are small, not as much food areas around the ship, and no place to seat to see some of the shows.

Another Great Cruise by juditoo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

After taking 22 cruises with different lines over the years, I feel I can honestly rate this cruise as a delight!  Our cabin service with Jenin (cabin 7586) was excellent as was our nightly dinner service with Parnab and Lee Ann (table 218).  Jenin spoke with us daily about our needs and was quick to learn our schedule.  He made sure we had ice twice a day and was always responsive if we had a question.  Parnab was, by far, the best waiter we have ever had.  He was friendly, attentive, conversive but appropriate in his joking and taking with us.  We had a party of 8 friends at this table and knew our habits and needs after the first day.  He brought us extra dinner plates to try and extra desserts which we all consumed.  He was appropriately rapid with his taking our orders and equally fast to deliver each section of our meal.  We all liked Parnab and his methods.  Lee Ann was helpful also.  She engaged us in conversation and was helpful in making us feel welcome.

The ship was accommodating as it was not too large but easy to learn. The shows were great.  We attended all of them.  The orchestra was excellent as were the singers and dancers.  Ricky, the cruise director, was especially enjoyable.  He was energetic, funny, sensitive and helpful with his manner.  He is probably the best cruise director we have ever had.  Andre, the activities director was also enjoyable.  Their cruise morning show was a hoot.  I looked at it daily to check out what they had to say.  The activities we enjoyed the most were the trivia and we took part in all of these sessions.  The food was excellent on this ship.  Whether in the lido or in the dining room, we enjoyed the offerings.  Wait staff were always available on the lido deck to direct us, help us, or give suggestions. In all, we loved this cruise--the ports were good and we enjoyed the excursions that we took.

I am loyal to Royal Caribbean by GladToBeMe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Our 8 day New England/Canada cruise was wonderful, in fact this was the second time we did this cruise because we enjoyed it so much.  The ship's crew were kind and friendly and met all of our needs.  The food was good but we enjoyed the dinners in the main dining room more than the Windjammer buffet . The food wasn't always as hot as it could have been in the Windjammer and though there were ample choices, the food was just average.  The main dining room's food was excellent and we dined there every night.  The excursions were good.  We took two of them, in Halifax, NS and the other one to Freeport, Maine.  We docked in Portland, Maine and took an excursion to LLBean and some of the other outlet stores.  There are also restaurants where one can dine on local faire, including lobsters, clams, etc.  We also took a tour in Halifax to Peggy's Cove.  That place is not to be missed.  The scenery is unbelievable.  There's a lighthouse, small eatery and gift shop there.  From there we were given a tour and history of the sinking of the Titanic and burial ground in Halifax, and then taken through the town and given a history of the explosion that occurred there on Dec. 6, 1917 which destroyed much of the city and claimed many lives.  The tour was well worth the price.  We did a walking tour of Bar Harbor and enjoyed it too.  We dined at a local seafood restaurant (wish I could remember the name of it!).  It's where the locals dine and the food is superb.  As for the ship Grandeur of the Seas?   She is a good ship though she is beginning to show signs of age.  However, the ship's maintenance crew does a good job at keeping her "ship shape".  The entertainment was good.  The activities aboard the ship were OK.  Would I recommend this cruise?  Most definitely.
