Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The big screen was being replaced while we where onboard. The where working on the elevators the entire cruise. The banging and the smell of burning metal from them working on elevators. So pools where closed for what reason I dont know. Overall it was ok.

A just right and quite cruise time by PapaRex

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

In reality, 5 days cruise is not enough and we will never book a short cruise again other than 7 and above days. Comparing this with our previous cruise, this one was very quite, it must be because this ship is smaller that others. Do not expect nightly entertainment in Palladium every night, however you won't miss it if you are travelling with a group since you will have more time to get together and do stuff together. Main entries tasted sub-standard, we expected these to be better considering it's a Royal Caribbean cruise, however Appetizers, Dessert and food presentations were awesome. You will have to try the specialty restaurants for a step-up.

Our first cruise on a... by Winstonsax

Sail date: /
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

Our first cruise on a Royal Caribbean ship. Weve cruised on all of the commercial lines(7 total cruises) and had great trips. Grandeur of the seas ratings: A. Service: very good and friendly B. Food: specialty restaurants are very good but main dining breakfast and lunch quite poor. Dinner is average but below average for all of the cruise lines we have experienced. C. Entertainment: overall pretty good. Band was great however! D. Ports of call: very good and enjoyable. Easy on and off plenty of time at ports. E. Stateroom: nice size junior suite. A bit dated but great storage space. Old Mattress killed my back though. Nice balcony F. Bars: hated Schooner bar. Narrow and didnt like layout. Back bar was never open so i had to suffer in schooner bar to get a drink. Note: thankful that there were other bars to get a drink

First Royal Caribbean cruise by BeachBroad

Loved it but not really that kid friendly. The Windjammer needs to change the buffet more often. It became quite boring.

Fun Cruise to Bermuda/Bahamas/Coco Cay by mtlcruisefamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was our 9th cruise, 2nd with Royal. After cruising on the Oasis, I have to say that the small to medium size ship are more attractive to me. We are a family of four, and travel with friends Would I sail her again? Yes, for 2 reasons, no need to fly from where we live, drove to the departure port the night before, stayed at the Best Western in Elkridge , one night and provided parking for the duration of the cruise, really convenient. Complimentary breakfast, great staff, clean rooms. Shuttle to and from the port and they also drove us and picked up from Arundel Mills Mall nearby. The ship has a few itineraries that are of interest, would do Bermuda again, New England Canada cruise and have my eye on the 12 night southern Caribbean itinerary. Overall a great cruise

We cruised as a family... by SeaOutlook

Sail date: /
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

We cruised as a family (two teen kids, my wife and I) on the May 30, 2019 out of Baltimore to Bermuda, Nassau and CocoCay. We enjoyed all three ports of call, with ample time to explore. CocoCay is a-must-see paradise! The ship crew were very nice, except for the Cruise Director who was rarely seen and had a very bossy attitude. Compared to our previous cruises, the Grandeur was the smallest and oldest ship, but it was kept very clean by the crew. Because of the ship’s age, rust was all around the ship, and most visible on the promenade, but crew were seen always painting to fight the rust. The buffet area was too small and very crowded such that it was always difficult to find seating. The food was generally nice, with a good variety, especially for lunch and dinner, but not so much for breakfast. Bars were never crowded, and so service was quick. Onboard activities were limited, especially for kids, and our teen kids were bored to death during sea days. We had an ocean view cabin. Compared to our previous cruises, this cabin was small, but we quickly realized that if we kept the twin beds separate, the room appeared bigger and easier to get around. The stateroom attendant kept our cabin very clean every day. The bathroom was small and more so the shower, but usable. Embarkation and disembarkation were swift, but on port days, it took considerably long before guests could be let out after the ship had docked. Overall it was a very nice vacation with a wonderful itinerary.

The food and service on the ship was awesome!!!! The ship is older and could use some updated. The ship is very clean and being cleaned constantly!! Biggest negatives lack of things to do. Entertainment and tv stations and outdoor movies were aweful. The destination trips were nice loved Coco Cay it was awesome! Good trip had lots of rain but weather you can’t control.

Grandeur was a beautiful ship small and not alot to do. The cruise was to a cold climate and we learned that this was a major drawback we will always go warm from now on

We chose this cruise because... by tinah06

Sail date: /
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

We chose this cruise because it leaves from Baltimore which is only 1 1/2 hours from our home. The service by dining room staff and our room steward was great. However, the ship is old and shows its age. There was a place on the wall of our stateroom where they had tried to patch the wallpaper and it was held on by Scotch tape. Part of the wood baseboard on one of the walls was missing and furniture was dated and very scuffed up. We also had a bad smell coming from our shower drain for most of the 9 day cruise. We had our 2 1/2 year old with us and there were no activities for her besides putting her in the nursery (which we didn't do). The nursery consists of a padded room with toys geared towards babies under 1 year old. Luckily we were aware of this part and we planned on keeping her with us throughout the whole vacation. The highlights of the cruise were definitely the ports of call and the service provided by the crew.

This was our first cruise... by ladybugxing

Sail date: /
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

This was our first cruise and we enjoyed it very much. We went from Baltimore to Nova Scotia and back. The staff is great! We wanted to take them home with us! The food was great. We liked the dining room better than the Windjammer - but we liked the food just fine in both places. We just prefer full service dining. You can always find something to eat on Grandeur! We enjoyed the snacking options in the afternoon and in the late evening. There were a few things I didn’t like - the clam chowder and the lobster bisque weren’t for me, but I’m a Bostonian born and bred, so if it’s not New England clam chowder that’s creamy and full of clams and bite sized potatoes, it isn’t real clam chowder. The bisque wasn’t creamy and I never found a piece of lobster, but the rest of the cruisers seemed to enjoy it. The cream of zucchini soup, on the other hand, was amazing! We loved the escargot, the crab cakes, and the seafood cakes - what a treat! We learned that we like to be on the ship. We skipped the excursions in Maine - an excellent choice as the weather wasn’t the best. We spent those days relaxing in the solarium, chatting with new friends, and reading books. We feel that the spa treatments are nice, but are a bit pricey and really aren’t our thing. We will skip those next time. We really enjoyed the art auctions, as the people watching, the champagne, and the raffles were really fun! We loved the line dancing and other activities. Basically, you can be busy every minute, but we chose not to be. Our next cruise will be to Alaska - with the rest of the family! We want all of our family members to join us and experience the best type of vacation ever!

Really loved this cruise. The ports were amazing. We took a great tour of Boston & saw quite a bit. I had never been to any of the other places we stopped and they were great. Lots of great shopping. Everything from souvenirs to artisans. Terrific seafood, especially lobster. We had a spacious balcony & it is worth the extra money. Room service some mornings on our balcony. The good was great. I would recommend the traditional dining room the staff was super friendly & helpful. The entertainment was very good. Especially the band!! I highly recommend this cruise.

We were celebrating our Golden Anniversary on board. Family decorated our stateroom—and staff caught on. Lots of fun. This was the perfect cruise with the perfect size ship. No one got lost. Highly recommended.

The staff was excellent. This... by tristapainter

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

The staff was excellent. This cruise ship caters more to the older crowd as they comprise about 75% of the passengers. If you have a young child that is 3 they can attend adventure ocean, which is free, only if they are 100% potty trained. This means they need no help whatsoever in the bathroom. Not sure what 3 year old needs no help at all. Children needing help have to go to the nursery and the toys are more for babies on the side. This really upset my three year old as the toys on the adventure ocean side were more for her age. Also, no diapers or pull-ups are allowed in the pools. I found it very challenging to keep my toddler occupied. The food was delicious. Many of the items in the main dining room are also on the buffet. The buffet was overcrowded every time I went there. Reminds me of a feeding trough. A lot of lounges on board which is great for relaxing but limited in activity for families and the younger crowd. When you purchase the refreshment or deluxe drink package it says it comes with Evian water but you get true water instead.
