Our itinerary had us back in the USA in the middle of the cruise. This meant we had to clear customs and immigration in Port Canaveral, not in Baltimore after the cruise ended. Our deck (deck #8) was the first to exit. We had to be off the ship between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m. Then, we had to sit in the terminal until 9:15 a.m. when the ship reached a zero count and was cleared to reboard passengers. We'll never book a similar itinerary again.
At times, smoke odor from the Casino permeated the Centrum. We couldn't participate in some of the Centrum entertainment because of that.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived at the dock around 10:45 a.m. It took less than 15 minutes from the time we exited our Lyft until we were in the Windjammer. Very efficient and speedy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate breakfast in the main dining room once. Premade omelets- cold; Eggs
Benedict (ordered from the menu)- cold.
We ate dinner in the Windjammer once. It seemed to have somewhat limited offerings, compared to other ships.
The Main Dining Room was better than average. Out service was excellent. The food menu on several nights seemed to be uninspiring. Broccoli was the main vegetable offered. No chilled soups.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The spas in the Solarium, although warmer than most ships (yea!) had almost no bubbling action from the jets; very limited water flow.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The production shows were average, at best.
Headliners were comedians; Alfred and Seymour were outstanding, as always.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Probably the most friendly crew we've ever met.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The layout is what it is. One can't do much about a ship with a Centrum as its hub.
Grandeur was very clean and maintained very well.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had a Junior Suite overlooking the stern of the boat. We took this cabin for the experience. The balcony was huge... double what one would get with Junior Suites located elsewhere. Wind was never a factor. Even on the colder days we were able to comfortably sit outside. However, it was a hike to get to an elevator or stairs. We're glad we experienced life at the aft of the ship this once, but will locate elsewhere from here on out.
The cabin was very clean and everything worked.
We went to 'Thrill Waterpark' to see what it was like. Now we can say, "Been there, done that!" It's a nice gimmick. I don't know if we'd spend the money to revisit it the next time we're at Coco Cay. If I wanted to spend money to go to a water park I'd go to some place like Adventure Island in Tampa, not go to one on a cruise ship's island.
