Review summary

We enjoyed the accessibility of a small ship, but missed the technological advances of a larger ship.

Embarkation

Will not sail out of Baltimore ever again! Our names were on the manifest, but we were not in the computer system. This cruise was booked onboard our previous cruise a year earlier. Checkin took an hour and once onboard the issues were still not fixed. We had to go to guest services 3 times in the first 2 hours. They had issues linking our Royal Caribbean credit card to our account. Also, we purchased the drink package prior to sailing, but it was not added to our sea passes.

Service and Staff

Service on a smaller ship is second to none! Room stewards that weren't even assigned to our cabin greeted and helped us daily. Bartenders/waiters knew our name and cabin from the first day!

Ship Quality

We enjoyed the accessibility of a smaller ship. Impeccable cleanliness!

Cabin / Stateroom

The enormous balcony was amazing, and loved the walk in closet.

Ship tip

The centrum glass elevators have their own buttons, (also must be used to access the viking crown lounge & Izumi on decks 11 & 12). You'll get an elevator faster if you use the buttons across from the glass elevators since there are 4.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

We booked Atlantis (aquarium only) excursion with Royal Caribbean and loved it. The city itself did not look like something we would feel comfortable exploring on our own.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

Chill Island is very windy. They will not let you open the umbrellas.

Baltimore, Maryland

Cruise Maryland terminal was disappointing for embarkation and debarkation. We definitely will never sail out of Baltimore again!

Disembarkation

We like to carry our own bags off. We were required to check them (unless we could carry them down the stairs to deck 1) because the port gangway was broken. They finally called our number, only to find out when we got off the ship, that they had mistakenly thought our luggage was ready. Luggage groups 9-11 had to line up against a wall and wait until the luggage was actually ready (about 30 minutes). Will never sail out of Baltimore ever again!

We have sailed on the Grandeur out of Baltimore four times. Two cruises 🚢 to Bermuda and two up the coast to Canada 🇨🇦. We have loved each cruise and plan on returning next year. Use the early check in on their site, days before your cruise so you can have a smooth check in. Have fun 😊!
