Review summary

We had a wonderful time on this cruise and would do it again on this ship. The convenience of departing from Baltimore is one of the reasons we would choose this ship again. They do offer different itinerary's but we would love to see another port in Baltimore (before the Key Bridge so maybe a Voyager series or larger ship could become available for even more venues). The size of the Grandeur makes it easy to get around to all events in a timely manner. The crew was engaging and helpful. There are a few draw backs as in the size of this ship the Centrum is not a large enough space to hold certain venues but they tried to do so anyway which made it very difficult to see or enjoy them. They would have been better off doing them in the Palladium Theater which was made for larger capacity crowds to entertain. We also noticed a shortage of staff and some events that were in the daily compass never got under way as activities staff were stretched to thin to make and run different events. But all in all we had an enjoyable cruise aboard the Grandeur of the Seas and would cruise this ship again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Most activities were good but some never got started due to activities staff being short, prior ones running longer then anticipated etc.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Some good, some okay, some reruns.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Dining room staff, bar tenders, servers were always there making sure things were good.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Needs a bit of care.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
To small a space for the large chair they stuck in middle of room. Also our cabin looked nothing like the picture you show here.

Ship tip

Big screen by pool was wasted most of the time by not being utilized more often. When activities are going on around the pool/ship it might be good to project it up on the big screen for more to be able to see and enjoy with out having to crowd a small space to get a look at what is happening.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

5 out of 5
Easy to get on and off (when ship is on time).

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

Best of this trip. They have done a lot to make this a nice relaxing stop. The shopping village is a bit of a hassle as some just do not take not interested for an answer.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Love St. Marteen's. This was our 5 time here and we decided to do a Rhum distillery tour and we didn't regret it. We booked it through our travel company, cruises only, and we weren't disappointed. Our tour consisted of touring Topper's Rhum distillery and tastings hosted by the owners wife (Melanie) and his daughter (Marni), then we were transported to Topper's Restaurant where our tour included a BBQ lunch, the wife had the ribs and I had the chicken, both were delicious with sides and a Rhum punch to drink. After that we had a little over an hour to enjoy the beach which was also included in our tour package. This is a tour I would recommend to anyone looking for a great tour of a Rhum distillery and to meet a great group of people that take you on this tour. We will definitely be going back to visit both Topper's Rhum distillery and their Restaurant. We had a great time.
