Review summary

This was an excellent cruise that I already want to experience again. Next time I want to do the land tour and cruise.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
It was horrible in the port. Princess employees were fine but no directional signs and port employees gave conflicting information. Everyone in the same lines and getting yelled at because we didn’t know where to go. One person said keep on moving!!! Next person said you have to go back. It was very difficult and anxiety was high.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Loved the dining rooms. Buffet was good.

Sundaes Ice Cream Bar

2 out of 5

Never got our specialty desserts here because there was always a huge line. Seems like the servers were extremely overwhelmed, or frustrated, not very friendly. Once they said to wait that the flavor of ice cream we wanted was on the way. Ordered it and a coffee. Waited over 20 minutes, drank the coffee and left. It was not very organized at all and I was so disappointed to not get any ice cream sandwiches nor sundaes here. I understand busy, but when you add inefficient, you have a problem. Needs help. One day I ordered an ice cream cone, and the girl that waited on me was very friendly but she was the only one.

Alfredo's Pizzeria

2 out of 5

The food was great but we were preempted by the concierge’s assistant who took the table while we are at the concierges desk taking our names. They did not have a reservation and he went around us with this party and seated them. We ended up waiting over 35 minutes for another table. Then they waited on us so slowly!! We waited forever between our salad and pizza, and then dessert was another 25 minutes!! It was not a good experience. We wished we had gone up to deck 14 and had pizza by the slice.

Da Vinci (Main Dining Room)

5 out of 5

This was an excellent dining experience. We had reserved a table for 8 every night. The first night we got Rodrigo and Nonie as our servers. Excellent!!! Personable and very efficient. The next night we were seated at another table. Servers were efficient but not personable at all. So we requested Rodrigo and Nonie’s table the rest of the week. Rodrigo was sick a couple of nights and the substitute was ok, but not as organized, efficient or personable so we were happy when he retuned!! The maitreD here was also very efficient and kind. Loved his mannerisms and personality.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The music and dancing shows were pretty good. Magician was mediocre. I wouldn’t say great overall.

Explorers Lounge

4 out of 5

Loved doing the game shows in the evening in this lounge. We also liked sitting by the windows here. The drinks were a little slow coming, but it was always crowded, so it was understandable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward Allan was efficient. Not extraordinary but performed everything as expected. Waiters Rodrigo and Nonie in the DeVinci dining room were exceptional. Requested same table every night. MaitreD there was also very efficient and personable. Kudos to the DeVinci staff!! The Wait staff at the Alfredo’s Pizza didn’t treat us right. Put a party ahead of us without a reservation even though we were already at the concierge’s desk requesting a table. Got seated 35 minutes later. Service was so slow. Wished we had gone somewhere else.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I never saw anything that was unclean or out of order.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Room was always clean, bed was comfortable, pillows were nice, room was larger than expected for inside room. We were happy.

Ship tip

Enjoy every minute. Deck 7 is nice to view the ocean, getting into ports, etc as it is under roof and closer to the water.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

2 out of 5
Loved Vancouver. Spent 3 days here. The port was horrible. Unorganized and no directional signs. Uber driver didn’t know where to go, almost dropped us off at a hotel even though we gave him the correct address to the port. The port employees seemed as confused as we were. Crowded. All ships are in the same line and people were irritated. Not a great experience at all.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Loved the town. Did the lumberjack show. While enjoyable, wouldn’t do it again. Confused on where to meet for shuttle, or Princess tour guide as they didn’t show up on time. Ended up walking. I would have given myself more time perusing the town if I had to do it again.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Excellent experience. Went to Mendenhall glacier. Not enough time with the Shore Excursion. We wanted to see the waterfall so we went there first and didn’t have any time left to go to the visitors center. It definitely needs more time to be here. Tour bus guide was good and we enjoyed it all, just didn’t have enough time to see everything.

Skagway, Alaska Did not visit port

Winds were too high and we stopped at Haines instead.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
Beautiful experience. Viewed from Shop only

Cruise College Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
This was our favorite day!!! From the time we got up to the time we went to bed, the scenery and trip was delightful! I loved every minute.

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
The port was organized and was flowing smoothly as far as we could tell. Got to the luggage pretty easy and found our all day tour excursion area with ACT Big Bus, which was excellent.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were in an earlier disembarkation time frame and it was held up slightly, but we still got off in plenty of time to board our bus and be on our way!
