Review summary

It was great stepping on to the grand Princess in Whittier. I love the first day! As I said above, prepare for rain and fog and cold if you’re going to Alaska. We paid for Princess plus which included Wi-Fi and drink package. The first crew member we interacted with tried to upsell us, but we simply declined. I think they only do that right when you get on board. We really enjoyed the cruise, and would do it again. All in, I recommend this cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation in Whittier was a breeze…..fast and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good. It’s not “amazing”, but very good. We ate in the buffet most days and twice in the restaurants.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was a lot offered but we didn’t do any of them except movies on the big screen by the pool , which was kind of cool.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Great cover band, great magician, and great state show “British Invasion”. The individual musicians throughout the ship were ok.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great staff, very friendly and attentive. We never felt ignored or pushed aside, even from higher up crew members.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean and designed well, I think the Grand Princess is due for a re-fit soon. Parts of it are looking a little dated.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
A219 Nice room with deck. A little cramped but you expect that on a cruise. Queen bed, desk/vanity. Closet for clothes and quite a few drawers for clothes too.

Ship tip

If you are going to Alaska, be prepared for rain and fog.

A little crazy, crowded and claustrophobic, but that only lasted about 30 minutes.
