The 29 day cruise was originally going to have two other ports of call. This got changed over time. Too many days at sea with same & more of same things to do. Will not do a long cruise with so many days at sea. Lastly it was our first Princess cruise ( our 29th overall cruise) and this ship and tour is in the bottom 20% of all cruises taken
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Fine & quick, but found out that several other passengers got on without Covid test (requirement to book) and those that did gave it were not questioned or asked to show proof.! Guess that’s why we needed to wear masks continuously for 29 days
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
We had a drink package and generally drank wine. Most bars and restaurants had different wines and I needed to run across ship to get a wine of choice. Also the food is sub par. Items described were substituted. Barramundi was Covina. Trout was salmon. A bouillabaisse had no tomatoes in it and was white? And many other things. Lastly there were only 2 speciality restaurants. The Italian one was excellent, steak one was worst than main dining room. All was questionable and couldn’t eat some meals
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Bring your own and your own friends. Daytime activities were bingo, some hula or ukulele classes, and mostly trivia. Boring. Where are the interesting activities?
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The ship’s dancers and singers were good. However they brought in many solo or couple acts that were really bad. Guess the ship got them since they were not “book able “ in normal home towns
Children's Programs
No kids
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Actually the service was top notch! The staff got to know us and we were treated royally.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship off as clean, but it’s old and many running rust spots on exterior. Artwork, design, floor plan are from years bygone.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Cabin was well maintained by cabin attendant. However the bathroom hadn’t seen an upgrade in 25 years. Clean but dated. Showe r water was either too hot or too cold. What’s up?
Could be nice if ship could get into the first two fjords. Weather prevented it and last one was pouring rain. Obviously didn’t make a nice observation
Seasoned cruisers tend to enjoy the sea days, my wife and I have taken the 28 day Tahiti Cruise four times. If you're looking to be constantly entertained from morning till night it's not going to happen on these kind of cruises . There are quite a few things to do however we do a lot of reading watching movies under the Stars, enjoying cappuccinos while sitting in the international cafe, meeting and talking with people etc. Lots of time to relax.
We had ports closed on our transpacific crossing in those areas because they’re not set up for covid outbreaks… why book a cruise such as this if not wanting multiple sea days 🤔
Excellent itineraries. If you don’t like sea days, don’t book a trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic cruise. There will always be multiple sea days in the crossing.
