Review summary

We had a great first experience in Alaska. We booked another trip there as soon as we got home. Each tour we took was unique and a great experience. I have no complaints whatsoever about the ship or itinerary. I can’t wait to go back

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I have never had an embarkation this easy. It was about 12:00 and there was nobody I. The port we walked straight through the empty line to a very nice women that we talked to for a few minutes and than we got on the ship. A very organized process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The best food of any CruiseLine. I tried to avoid meat though because it was not great on this ship for some reason. But the chicken and fish were amazing.i am not a fish person but the salmon and crab legs on the ship were the best I have ever had. The fettuccine Alfredo was as good as always in princess. The chocolate journeys desserts and the scones and mini fruit tarts are a must try. We didn’t try any specialty restaurants during our cruise

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There were many activities on this ship. We enjoyed playing basketball and mini golf on the top decks. We also enjoyed trivia and karaoke at night. The fruit carving demonstrations and martini demonstrations are fun to watch. On formal night the traditional princess champagne waterfall and balloon drop are a fun activity for all ages. I would bring a deck of cards because it is fun to play while listening to all the music options around the ship.p and for when there is no activity to do around the ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The best entertainment by far, there was poolside music that we listened to during the days where we could sit out in the sun. There was always music in either the piazza or crooners bar to listen to while we played cards.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone in the restaurants bars and everywhere else besides our room was hard working and dedicated people. Our room steward however was not great. He would barge into our room not knock and throw, literally throw our nightly chocolates at us. one time he came in with the do not disturb sign up. Also he would not give us towels when we asked for more and he would constantly give one of us a ripped sheet when we asked him to change it.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship is one of the best designed ships I have ever seen. It is all clean. Down to the public restrooms and buffet. My favorite part of the ship is the wrap around promenade deck. It has partial reclining chairs that are comfortable. We got to go there during Tracy arm fjord day and watch the glaciers go by in the front of the ship without having the intense cold winds beating down on us like in the top deck where we were originally.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a very luxurious inside cabin on our trip. It was clean and had a lot of storage, more than enough for 3 people. We had enough of closet space for 3 overpackers. It was bigger than most interior cabins i have been on.

Ship tip

A great place to go when the pool is busy if you are just sitting in a chair is the promenade. They have reclining cushioned wooden chairs for you to sit on and you can get a beautiful view of the front of the ship.

Ports of call

San Francisco, California

I loved our short time in San Francisco. We crammed in a lot of sights. We got to enjoy fisherman’s wharf and ghiradelli square where we had a delicious huge chocolate sundae for dinner (we were planning on going to Chinatown for dinner but it didn’t work out that way). The next day before embarkation 2 of us took a walk to Chinatown and saw dragons gate. We even had time for a in and out burger which is by far the best fast food burger.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did not have an excursion here. We walked around a shopped for souvenirs. We did most of our shopping here. We also walked to a magnificent totem pole of an eagle. We were actually thinking of doing the Alaskan lumberjack show but we didn’t do it since we didn’t have a lot of time here and we did want to shop.

This is an amazing port. We originally had a salmon bake, whale watching and mendenhall glacier tour through princess cruises . But due to the Waco winds as one of the tour guides called it it was cancelled. You have to be prepared for anything when you are cruising. So we waited a few hours to see if they would do it later but it ended up not happening. We instead did a mendenhall glacier tour. This was one of the most exciting tours I have ever done. We took a hike to point lookout where we had a breathtaking view of the glacier. Next we took a 2.5 mile hike to nugget falls. we got to touch the water which was freezing. As you approach the waterfall you can hear the crashing of the water. You have to be there to truly appreciate it. Our guide was great and informative. That is one place i want to go back to.

We went on a very long tour today. We went into Yukon and went it caribou crossing and carcass. You have the opportunity to go on a dog sled ride of go mining. We got to be with the animals and pet a baby dog. In carcross we got to go shopping. But I implore you DO NOT go shopping in the general store. Everything is so much more expensive than everywhere else. After that we took the white pass rail. I loved standing on the back of the car, letting the wind go in my hair and taking in all of the sights. I got some amazing pictures on the train. Our guide on this tour was very friendly social.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

For this “port” you must pack layers. It was so cold and we couldn’t stay out here for long. The promenade deck was the best place to view this. The winds were very high on the top decks. Our whole bodies were numb after this and we had sweatshirts, hats, jackets and gloves. I do recommend doing a early wake up for this. We entered at 5 am we woke up around 5:30 and got outside at about 6:30. We got to see everything and the wake up was completely worth it"

We did a buchart gardens tour through princess cruises. We got on a large bus and drive about an hour to the gardens. The. We had 2 hours to explore on our own. It is easy to navigate and we got to see all but one of the gardens. My personal favorites are the sunken and the rose gardens. There are many amazing photo ops in the Japanese garden and the Italian garden has some amazing gelato. We also saw a tiny jam packed store by the dock. We didn’t buy anything there. We bought a maple syrup on the ship which was delicious

Disembarkation

This was just as good as the embarkation we got our bags and got to the airport quickly.
