It is a credit to Princess that I was shocked by the poor service and bad food because it means that their reputation precedes them.

The staff really have this process nailed down. They were quick, knowledgeable, and friendly

Food and Dining

It pains me to hive such a poor rating but I was shocked by how bad the food was and how poorly it was cooked and presented.
I’ve been on half a dozen cruises and this was by far the worst food and dining experience I’ve had.
The food at the breakfast buffet was cold, not even a little warm. This was every single day! We had to ask them to microwave items.
In the main dining room, the waiter never bothered to learn our names. I’ve never experienced this on a cruise before!
Onboard Activities

It might have been because the average age in this cruise was pretty high, but the evening entertainment never went for as long as was advertised - ie, the 45-minute extravaganza lasted less than 30 minutes.
The other daytime activities were good

Service and Staff

Our room stewards were fine, but the wait staff was awful, including the steak house where we ate for my birthday. The main dining room waiters never even bothered to learn our names, and when I asked our waiter for more water, he actually said, “did you ask my assistant? That’s his job.” Never ever ever have I experienced this on the many cruises I’ve been on. In fact on every other cruise, the waiters noted that I like a lot of water and usually had a second glass for me at my place setting
Again, to Princess’ credit, this was shocking to all of us, and it was the talk of the ship. You couldn’t get on an elevatir without hearing people remark how the service was

Cabin / Stateroom

The mini-suite was perfect for my sister and me. I may have the deck wrong but I remember the number because we selected it to honor our Mom, whose birthday was 5/35.
Sweet town, really enjoyed the Lumberjack show. And, there was a restaurant right near that venue that had the best clam chowder I’ve ever had in my life (and I’m from San Francisco so I’ve had very good clam chowder)
Has anyone booked their excursions yet or had prior experience at any of these ports?
I am thinking we will do easy things on the way out and if we hear about anything spectacular we missed we can do it in the way back.
I am hoping that this was a one time experience. My husband and I have done 2 Transatlantic cruises to Europe on Princess ships and other than bad weather we have never had any complaints. This is our first trip to Alaska and we are very excited, we have heard so many amazing things!
