Review summary

My husband and I booked this cruise to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary (and my 40th birthday) on board. We went in knowing the Grand is an older ship and there may be some things not up to snuff. Well, the Grand Lady blew us away. She exceeded our expectations. From our stateroom to the dining experience to the entertainment, every thing was perfect. We had an excellent adventure on this cruise. We can’t wait to cruise again with Princess.

Ship tip

The Grand is an older ship, go with that in mind. We were pleasantly surpised by the Grand and all she had to offer us. Enjoy the aft horizon terrace. The view is mesmerizing

We did the Glacier Point Wilderness safari. Awesome!! We took a bus to the small boat pier. The boat took us to glacier point. A school bus took us (4wheeling ;) into the rainforest where we suited up in rainboots and life jackets and issued an oar. Then hiked thru the rainforest to a river where we canoed to Davidson Glacier. We hiked from the shore to the glacier. Awe-inspiring!! Then we did everything in reverse to get back to skagway. The boat portion would stop to see wildlife and waterfalls. After the excusion, we stopped in at the Red Onion Saloon. That was a hoot!

We did the state museum, Medenhall glacier & rainforest gardens excursion. We had enough time after the excursion to go on the Mt Roberts tramway which was amazing. Crystal clear day and gorgeous weather

We did the Misty Fjords Wilderness excursion. It was fantastic. We were fortunate to see a whale right in the harbor.

We did not do an excursion. We got off the ship and walked to fisherman’s wharf and back. Victoria is a beautiful city with lots of flowers and great architecture to enjoy

thank you for your feedback on the Grand...my husband and I will board her in November for Hawaii.. we love older ships...more intimate and satisfying in some way...our next Adventure is Christmas aboard the Emerald in 2020...
