Review summary

will not travel on Princess again...you get what you pay for...the crew was unable to control the rude, pushy ill mannered passengers that took up all of the seating and camped out in the dining rooms and open areas - way too many people on this ship - kept to our mini suite that saved the day... cancelled a future trip after this experience...never thought that I was prejudice...but now I am after this trip.

We were on the Dec 3-13 cruise and we had a large number of orientals on board. Their culture is very different from ours. One of the big differences is personal space. They really don't understand that. They will bump you, stand against you, or even lean over you and never apologize. To them they have done nothing wrong. I live in an area that has thousands of Oriental tourist every year. We find most to be friendly, engaging and funny. Many of them speak English better than most people in the states do.

Been on the Grand several times, headed out this month for Hawaii on the Grand. Never have had big issues, crew great, service great. Too bad the poster of this review did not have the same experience.

Not sure which voyage the OP sailed; however, with the date of the review I am thinking it may have been the 10 day from SF on Dec 13. We were on that sailing and our experience was nothing like OP's. We found a lot of quiet areas, were not overrun, and did not find public areas crowded. Can't speak to OP's dining experience as we only ate in buffet once (a late lunch on Mazatlan day) and it was about what you would expect from a cruise line buffet. As for specialty dining, concur w/ OP as we had dinner in Crown Grill twice and loved it. I will post a detailed review and some photos next week.

I may have failed to read this post correctly, but, it makes no sense. The review indicates that the reviewer did nothing, stayed in his/her room, and yet failed to enjoy the cruise. Oh, and is now suddenly prejudiced against, well, who knows what. I think perhaps this person was doomed to be unsatisfied prior to sailing.

Been on the Grand for a 10 day outta SF CA. If anything the ship was a geriatric ward. I mean, we sailed in mid January & while we had a good time I was stunned by the number of passengers sailing alone, usually older widows. Arguably the most laid back, quiet cruise I have ever taken. My wife & I aren’t old be we rather enjoyed much quiet conversations & met several older couples with whom we had a good time. This just review just sounds fishy. Not the same boat I was on. The crew was almost slavish in its attentiveness to us passengers.

Always suspicious of a post that does not show the ship or the itinerary...the Grand is a ship holding a max of 2900 passengers ...that is nowhere near the mega ship range...if you hit the buffet on embarkation day or disembarkation day it will be a madhouse ...if you find the main pool too crowded you can always find a quiet place at the aft pools or in the one five lounge...the key phrase which might be disturbing this cruiser...”never thought that I was prejudice...but now I am”...assuming that this is not a made up post...this person might feel more comfortable in a different environment

Sometimes that’s the problem with very big ships

Another review of disrespectful passengers

Unfortunate that you had a bad experience. I was on the Grand Princess two months ago and had zero bad experiences. One thing of the most laid back cruises of all I've been on. It was so good that a week after returning home we booked the exact same cruise for next Oct.
