Review summary

Overall, we loved our cruise and will be planning another one soon. One thing to watch out for is internet usage. They charge by the minute and the quality of connection is slow, so many of your minutes are wasted on waiting for things to load. It became a pain to use when all we wanted to to was check in with family from time-to-time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Check-in and security were so efficient. We were told that our deck would be boarding at a specific time. Layering the boarding by deck minimized having to wait in lines. After boarding at 2pm, we still had time to grab lunch at the buffet before our luggage arrived.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The actual food was excellent. My favorite restaurant was the Crown Grill - the quality of service and steak far exceeded my expectations. My only complaint here is the cost for sodas. They offered a soda package, but we opted out since we don't drink soda daily. Throughout the entire 10 day cruise, between the both of us, we had a total of 5 sodas. Over $2 each plus the mandatory tip/gratuity on top of that making it almost $3 each is a bit pricey.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pool deck was always kept clean and there were plenty of lounge chairs. We enjoyed the pool, movies under the stars. Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the fitness center as we originally had planned to do so.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The stage shows were amazing. Live bands were so much fun. The DJ was subpar.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every single staff member we encountered was welcoming, hospitable and pleasant. Our steward was so efficient, friendly and always available to help with our requests.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was bigger than we anticipated. Everything was clean and in working order. The bed was so comfortable. My husband and I keep reminiscing about how comfortable the bed was. The balcony was half covered and half exposed which was exactly what we were looking for.

Ship tip

There are formal nights where people really get dolled up in evening gowns. Since this was our first cruise, we did not know about that. I wish Princess would make more of an effort to let their guests know about formal nights and what to expect.

Ports of call

San Francisco, California

5 out of 5
This is where we embarked from. We live here, so our comments may be a little biased. We love our city. The port itself is in a great area. Walking distance to fun touristy stuff for those that don't live here.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Manzanillo, Mexico

3 out of 5
The port is far from any of the places we would have liked to see. It was a short visit - back on the boat by 3:30. I realize this is due to cultural differences, but there were so many stray starving dogs it was hard to look past them. Heartbreaking, actually.

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did not do an excursion. We jumped in a taxi and he took us to multiple destinations for photo opportunities before dropping us on in the Golden Zone. We explored, shopped and ate some of the best tacos of our lives at a sports bar/restaurant (can't remember the name) before heading back to the boat.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did not do an excursion. We opted to walk around the Marina, check out Cabo Wabo and a few other local hot spots. We ended up at a fun bar called The Usual Suspects and had lunch before finishing up our shopping and taking a water taxi back to the boat.

Disembarkation

Very organized.

I understand...I receive free minutes...I get up early to log on. My wife uses hers during the day and suffers from very slow internet and burns her minutes

I understand having slow internet at sea, but being charged by the minute is what made it frustrating.

Very few ships have a good internet service. 10 years ago it was not even considered. 10 years from now it might be perfect. Currently, rarely does anyone praise, but tons of complaints.

All internet goes through the ship’s band width...when at sea it is better to go on line in early morning or late evening...when a lot of folks are trying to use the available bandwidth things will run slow
