Never hurts to ask...if they say no...you are in no worse shape than you were if you didn't ask

Oh ok. Thank you for letting me know that. I didn't know that was allowed.

They have contracts and assignments that last between 30 days and two years...cruise director staff tend to move from ship to ship far more frequently than servers...but if you have someone who impressed you....ask to exchange e-mails ...my blushing bride has maintained relationships for years with cruise staff and knows when they will be on the Grand

Ok thank you for that information romantik. I was wondering because the servers that we had in the dining room were very nice and helpful and the servers that we had at dinner were very funny.

We have run across servers entertainers and cruise staff that we have seen on the Grand several times...our Hawaiian cruise will just miss the assignment of one of our favorite cruise staff members

Has anyone ever taken the same ship twice to two different destinations but more than a year apart? Was the crew the same the second time or were they entirely different?

Years ago the San Francisco cruise did go to Hubbard Glacier...and Vancouver...and they would switch off between Skagway and Sitka ...I loved Skagway because of the cheap souvenirs and because of Steve Hites...I also loved Sitka because of the raptor center...it would be great if the San Francisco cruise would include Sitka again...and as much as I enjoy Glacier Bay...the Hubbard Glacier is a far more impressive sight...if it is offered on your itinerary I would jump on that cruise...but understand that ice flow, fog or animal breeding can change your destination...but even at a distance the Glacier is impressive

I think that the Grand Princess is going to Hubbard's Glacier when we go next July, unless it's wrong on the itinerary. I will find out when we finally get to book the excursions. Thank you for the advice on the best places to watch.

The Grand goes to Glacier Bay...or Endicott...or Tracy Arm...Hubbard Glacier is the best...but the Grand does not go there...of the three that the Grand visits Glacier Bay is my Favorite...for viewing deck 8 forward and deck 12 aft are the least crowded because everyone charges to decks 14 & 15....the ship slowly rotates so all sides get a view...if you want the ship's photographer to take a photo with the glacier in the back ground then decks 14 & 15 are best...for views protected from the cold look at the gym...and you are correct...on the glacier viewing day there is no disembarkation

I have a question for those that went to Alaska. Did you go to Hubbard Glacier for scenic cruising? I'm guess that on that day everyone stays on the ship. Right? Is there any special place on the ship that has a better view than any other part of the ship?

I went on Grand Princess this past February when we went to Hawaii. It was a great ship and a great cruise. I had so much fun. It didn't take me long to find my way around the ship. The service was amazing and the crew was so nice. Everyone that I met always called me "Mr" and was very helpful.

GP was my 4th ever cruise. Loved that ship and especially the food.
