Review summary

Fun, family friendly cruise. Visited 5 ports with 1 sea day. Ship was very clean and the wait staff and attendants were very friendly and helpful.

Embarkation

Excellent experience. We were through the doors and on the ship in about 20 minutes. We arrived at about 3pm, so we missed the morning rush and the evening rush. However, I wish we had boarded earlier in order to explore the ship more.

Food and Dining

Windjammer Marketplace

4 out of 5

My family preferred the Windjammer to the MDR. So much variety. There is something for everyone, even picky eaters. The complementary beverages really were nothing more than coloured water, though. I'm glad I went with a drinks package.

Main Dining Rooms (Galileo, Isaac & Leonardo)

4 out of 5

The wait staff were amazing. Very friendly and hospitable. The food was just okay. I found some items to be either very salty or lacking flavor. Maybe the culinary team was just off that week as I have heard that the food is really good.

Sorrentos Pizza

Loved being able to grab a snack after an evening of dancing at the silent disco!

Onboard Activities

So much to do, so little time!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
What can I say other than I was thoroughly entertained! Our cruise had 5 port days and 1 sea say, so were off the ship during the morning and afternoon, so I cannot comment on the offerings during that time. However, in the evenings Royal put on some pretty top notch Broadway style shows (if that's your thing). There was also karaoke, dancing and game shows - the quest is hilarious!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Promenade view spacious cabin. This room was incredibly spacious with a separate area housing bunk beds for our kids. There was a sofa as well as bay seating by the two windows overlooking the promenade. If you are sensitive to noise, then this is probably not the best room for you as we could hear the music from the parties late into the night.

Ship tip

If you can, take the stairs. Getting off and on the elevators can be madness.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We embarked from San Juan and I absolutely fell in love. Old San Juan is a beautiful and charming city that is very walkable with sites and attractions on just about every street corner. I loved hunting for the door with the Puerto Rican flag on it or the street with the overhead umbrellas. For those with mobility issues, there is a free trolley that visits several sites including El Morro.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
There was a celebration in Barbados, so our itinerary changed and we were able to stay docked until 10:30 pm instead of leaving at 4:30. It was very nice to be able to spend some extra time in Barbados. The beaches in Barbados are gorgeous!

Disembarkation

Pretty straight forward. Being first timers, staff were friendly and helpful in guiding us and answering questions. Only thing I didn't like about disembarkment was actually having the end my vacation and leave.
