Review summary

It was a nice relaxing getaway. Next time I’ll do more excursions because these ports are pretty dull if you just stay in the shops area.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick check in and boarding process. We arrived at the port around 10:45am, and walked right on the ship!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food in the MDR and windjammer were just ok. The menu doesn’t change across the fleet in the MDR. It’s the same no matter what ship, or itinerary, which is very disappointing. In addition, the quality was just fair. In the windjammer, the selection did not change each day, maybe one or two dishes were switched out, but that was it. RCCL is quite lacking in the food quality and choice department.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Never a dull moment on board. The Halloween party was epic!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Fantastic shows every single night! Couldn’t ask for anything better

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service was pretty good for the most part, and the staff were all very friendly.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This was the very first ship I was on over 10 years ago. She is definitely showing her age. She will be going in for a very much needed dry dock and major overhaul in a few months.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The shower was difficult to maneuver in

Ship tip

Be prepared for the high number of Puerto Rican’s on board. They sure do like to party, and don’t really care about what anyone else thinks! We were on the pool deck, and about 10 Puerto Rican’s began marching around the deck, chanting something and banging drums. It was quite annoying, and they don’t seem to take anyone else into consideration when they do what they do.

Regarding your comment queenb, doing an excursion in each port can get costly very quick. This trip was one which I didn’t have much money to spend. Many other ports I’ve been to were much nicer and didn’t require an excursion to have a good time. These ports were just lacking in much to see or do.

As a 1st timer in January with all my research the one thing that is highly recommended from numerous sources is to do at least 1 excursion at each port. I agree that you should consider this otherwise why travel. Explore til your heart's content. Hell I went to a dear friend's wedding in Wichita of all places and had a blast experiencing all the city had to offer. Good luck!

Its really not fair to ports to give them a low rating because you decided not to leave the port area. All of these places are wonderful. But we always do excursions everywhere. There's no other way to see a new country.

It’s always a good idea to get out of the port area and explore the country and experience the culture. The ports you visited have great excursion options.
