Review summary

Overall a great cruise. The weather was cooperative and the passengers were great. No complaints of loud crazy; drunken stupors. Just a bunch of people having fun enjoying themselves. The ports were great; and most of all the food was great!

Embarkation

Smooth. We arrived around 4:30 and were on our way to our cabin by 5:00.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

They really outdid themselves with the variety. Wow... something different every night. The "usual suspects" which were served daily/nightly seemed to be geared toward a children's (adults too :) - like hamburgers; hot dogs; chicken fingers; etc... My biggest kudos to their BACON -no slimy bacon here! :) - All the food was great; as were the desserts; ice cream etc... If you wanted something you didn't see you could always ask and they would make for you. Another huge plus was that the lines were minimal. The set up in the Windjammer is such that you don't have all the passengers at once trying to get their meals. RCCL also kept good on their dress code in Windjammer. It was nice not to see people in swimsuits; towels; robes; cut off tee's exposing hairy armpits (sorry but that is totally gross) We saw a bunch of passengers just there to have a good time with no crazy rowdiness and lots of fun attitude without it. :) The food was so good at the Windjammer that we actually ate there the entire cruise.

Onboard Activities

Cannot rate as we did not participate

Entertainment

We did not do any of the shows

Children's Programs

We had no children with us. However, I must mention that it was nice to see the Lifeguards in the kids area. Always there, always alert. That was great!

Service and Staff

Wonderful staff. Always a smile; greeting; asking if you needed anything.

Ship Quality

Though many complain that the ship is "worn" I found it to be clean. Yes, there is a musty feeling in the air; and some of the areas in the cabin definitely need repairs. Our cabin smelled really musty and the shower head was broken. Once we advised the cabin steward he had someone in the next day. The ship is supposed to go into dry dock soon so many of the issues will most likely be taken care of. Hopefully the musty smell which seemed to come from the carpets.

Cabin / Stateroom

The AC seemed to constantly "lower" itself. There were nights that were really, really, uncomfortable. As previously mentioned, the shower head was broken but fixed the next day. The bathroom was the area that looked really "rough" it needed something. It smelled musty and water seemed to be constantly running from the wall in the shower area. At first I thought it was the cabin above but it was all day/night. Just constant running.

Ship tip

Good choice. The ship is great; their food is great and so is the staff! Check your prices on land before buying anything at the shops. Also, do go to Sorrentos. Great prizza! And the Cafe Promenade has great "finger food"

Not much to do here unless you do a tour or rent a Gold Cart as we did. It was awesome to drive the Cart around the SOUTH area. So much beauty. We saw everything we wanted to see in that area. Just beautiful - breathtaking. :)

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Will always be my favorite port. Best prices - great people and the beach a short 10 minute walk from port (some people pay for the ferry - we like to walk) The beach is awesome and the shops are right there across the street.

Disembarkation

Just as smooth as embarkation. A piece of advise: Don't bring fruits / food from the ship. The Beagle will sniff it out and hold up all other passengers. No need to bring bananas; apples as the lady in front of us did. There are fruits in Puerto Rico! And just as delicious :)
