Review summary

The Freedom of the Seas is an old, but beautiful ship. There's always room for improvement. Looking forward to our next vacation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was delicious in all, main dining room and buffets. Our waiter at Leonardo's, John, was excellent! We did not try the specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not a lot to do. They had the usual activities (bingo, trivias) we were looking forward to a welcome parade we saw on YouTube, but, to our surprise, they don't do that anymore. Not as fun as I expected.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
One of the shows, Marquee, was good. Can't say the same of the rest of entertainment. Some shows were repeated during the 7 day cruise. Ice skating show and the Gaucho, nothing outstanding.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Our waiter John was awesome. Our room steward not that much. He kept the room clean but wasn't very amicable. Often forgot to leave toiletries and extra towels.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and very well maintained for a ship her age. Beautiful ship indeed.

Cabin / Stateroom

Smaller than other ship's inside cabins. Not very comfortable. Bed was not that comfortable either. Issues with the air conditioner. We don't know if they turned it down, usually at 3-4 am was very hot. Other passengers we met complained about the same issue.

First time here. Did not take a tour. Visited local shops near the ship.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

Absolutely beautiful island. Islanders are very friendly. When you disembark, tour sellers jump on you, make you feel very uncomfortable as they can be very pushy. Two ladies started arguing in papiamento when we approached one of them asking about tour offers. Not very welcoming. We walked a couple minutes, and paid for a tour to both, north and south side of the island for $25 each. Most tours would only take us either north or south. We enjoyed the Salt Flats (they even let you take salt rocks with you) and 1000 Steps. The Flamingo sanctuary (one of the things we were looking forward to) was very disappointing as we got to see only 3 or 4 flamingoes. Visited the Cadushi Distillery and tried cactus liquor (did not like it) Overall, a pleasant experience.
