Review summary

In my opinion, The Royal Caribbean, Freedom of the seas was very disappointing And I felt cheated! If you are planning a family vacation or trip on a cruise, I recommend you look for a different cruise line. Our 7-day experience on the boat was extremely disappointing. The crew was rude and obviously not trained and had terrible issues among themselves.

We were a party of 32 people and we were treated as if they were doing us a favour. As if 32 people were a small investment. We were celebrating my grandfather's 80th birthday and We felt so embarrassed that we were all complaining after he treated all of us to the trip. All family members felt cheated, disappointed and truly miss treated. Most of the crew barely spoke English. Communication was extremely hostile and complicated.

1. THE ALL YOU CAN DRINK PASS:
After paying a $460 for each individual 19 passes, it was not thoroughly explained what was or not included.
They were very fast and pushy to sell them but were terrible to explain and then the service in each bar was slow or many times not existent.(Not worth it)

Not only bartenders were rude to women (sexist) they would take forever to get 1 drink, even more, complicated to get a bottle of water! Water is essential when you are under the sun and when the food is extremely high on salt. They would magically run out of whatever you were drinking and wouldn't make an effort to offer you something different! There is absolutely no quality control on cocktails every single bar would make their crappy version of the cocktail.

If you like prosecco forget it!!! You will get a glass and a price on the first 2 days and at the end of the cruise, they will say they never had it and they don't know what you have been drinking. And if they found a bottle again they will bump up the price! (if you ask me... that's very sketchy and not acceptable)

2. SECURITY TO GET ON THE BOAT:
I got my father an apple watch for Christmas, a very rude man from the boat security wouldn't let my dad get on the boat, after getting off on an island, with his apple watch and insisted that his watch had to be put in the X-ray machine.
After that incident, the watch never charged again.  After we filed a complaint they refused to take responsibility for the damage. Their way of paying back was giving "20% off our next cruise" like if anyone in their right mind would accept that!!!!!

3.FACILITIES
A. KIDS POOLS are extremely freezing! My 2-year-old nephew was in the pool for 10 minutes and got a terrible cold because of the water temperature.

B. COCA COLA MACHINE
More than 1 coca cola machine was out of order from the beginning of the trip. And the ones that were working had limited flavour options., even though this is included in the all you can drink pass. One can tell the maintenance of the machines is non-existent.

C. COFFE MACHINE
On the 11th floor main area, the expresso machine was never working in the morning, I had to walk to the completely opposite side of the boat to get an expresso. (speciality coffees are also included in the all you can drink pass) If you are a morning person and need coffee to wake up, this is not the cruise for you!

D. FITNESS CENTER
The lockers on the women's bathroom didn't have keys and some of them were broken! There was no personnel working in the area! I had to go out of my way to back to my room to leave any valuables. There was a sign that they wouldn't  take any responsibility for valuables left in the lockers.

E. TOWELS
They will charge a 25$ fee if you don't return it.  Even though the personnel was picking them up from the pool chairs.

F. FOOD MENUS
Thank god no one in my family has any food allergies,  the translations on the Spanish menu on Leonardo's dining room was unacceptable, pork and crab were wrongly translated.

G. ASK FOR A DAILY BILL
Even if you think everything is included, and you have the all you can drink pass, you need to be checking your daily bill. We had to complain about extra and false charges on our cards.

5. BUFFET DINING ROOM LEVEL 11:
I got burned with the serving utensils more than twice. I patiently ask for olive oil and vinegar for my food and they would bring them out when the entire salad bar was gone. They would rather throw out all the food than wait 10 more minutes for people to serve themselves. It was a constant battle! On the last day for breakfast some of the tables were completely wet from a leak on the ceiling. (The last drop makes the cup run over ...)

The Pizza place on the 5th floor had big issues. While I was waiting for a pepperoni pizza I could hear screams from the kitchen, the server wouldn't stop yelling "Where the f##ck is the chef, where is the pepperoni pizza" The server didn't mind, he left the door open and costumers could hear everything. I obviously didn't get any pizza.

The only person that treated us with respect, with a smile on his face, and was always willing to help was our stateroom attendant.

The only other positive review are the shows, congratulations to all the great performers.

Truly it felt like the crew is on an active silent strike! I guess they are trying to get management's attention.

It really ruined what could've been a memorable trip.

Royal Caribbean thank you for a very disappointing service. NEVER AGAIN!

Happy Birthday to your very generous grandfather.  I wished that all of you had a better experience for the big celebration..

What a great gift from your grandfather to celebrate his 80th birthday!

Sorry that there were so many issues. Even if you visited guest services to address some of the issues, I'd suggest a follow up letter to customer service to express your concerns and disappointments.
